I have logged about 120 miles on a pair of Salomon Snowscape

I have logged about 120 miles on a pair of Salomon Snowscape 7's and plan on doing a 50 K race in several weeks. Should I move up to the Elite 6 Grip?

My girlfriend is a beginner and is 5'10" ... is this the ski for her or should I go for the Alpina which is $40 less?

If you want to get the correct ski for your girlfriend, your best option would be to go to a local nordic shop and get fitted for skis since each ski will be slightly different in how it transmits her weight onto the snow and how stiff they are. The 2nd point is essential because an overly stiff ski won't flex and let the grip section contact the snow (thus, no propulsion, just slipping) and an overly flexible ski will constant drag the grip section (similar to leaving on the emergency brake constantly in your car).
