I bought the size 13's and they are the narrowest size 13's I've ever had on my feet - they barely fit and I've got narrow feet. That much was obvious when I first put them on. What also became obvious after a week of wearing them was that the left side insole is badly shaped - I'm starting to list when I walk. Bad mistake buying these shoes! (Aside from the fit problems, the quality of the shoes seems fine - hence the two stars.)

I agree with another reviewer that said these were painful. I travel a lot of work and wanted something comfortable but rugged and waterproof. These are light and fit well but hurt my feet when I first got them. They seem to cut into the top front part of the foot. They have softened up over time but I can not imagine doing some serious hiking or something right out of the box. I just noticed today that there looks to be another version of this shoe, so maybe Salomon did something to fix the issue that I had with them being painful. At this point I do not regret buying them, just be prepared for a need to break these in first before some major use.

Wore them around the house, thought they fit pretty well but seams over the top of my toes started to bite when I took them on the trail. Then, with not very many miles they are ripping around the ankle.
I've had good luck with Salomon products before but these were a real loser.

Right out of the box I put these on and hiked for ten days in Europe. Comfortable from day one. I have a slightly narrow foot so I have a hard time getting a good fit. But the XCR is a great buy.
