Splitting the difference between approach shoes and full-on hiking boots, the Salewa Hike Trainer GTX Women's Hiking Boot has the flexibility and stickiness of the former, with the stability and support of the latter. The soft and flexible nubuck and suede upper is lined with a Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane that makes short work of puddles, rainstorms, and muddy trails, while the Vibram Hike Approach rubber outsole will stick to scrambly slabs and wet rocks like a gecko to a tropical ceiling.

All that's pretty sweet, but the GTX's most impressive feature is its fit, which starts with Salewa's climbing lacing. Extending all the way down the toe so you can dial in the fit along your whole foot, it ensures a snug but comfortable fit, and helps eliminate pressure points or inconsistencies. The lacing system works with the 3F heel counter to reduce slippage, friction, and the resulting blisters. The 3F system is also designed to increase the GTX's stability, which is boosted the MFF multi-fit-footbed, a removable layer that can provide a wider fit, if you need one. Thoughtfully, Salewa hooked the whole thing up with an eco-friendly NXT odor-controlling treatment, too, so your boots don't smell like 16 wet dogs after a week on the trail.
