Ascend with the Ascent.
The trail doesn't stop until the summit, and neither do you, especially with Salewa's Ascent 32 Backpack comfortably carrying your hiking gear. Its Air Fit suspension system places cushy mesh everywhere your body touches for a highly breathable ride through summer's warmer weather. The Ascent is a traditional top loader with the straps tucked securely in the side pockets so they don't snag on any branches.
Salewa equipped the Ascent 32 with everything hikers want for convenience on the trail, and even a few features for random ice climbing days. There's a hydration port for your reservoir's hose to slide through, and the rain cover protects your gear in case some wet weather passes overhead. The Ascent also features attachments for trekking poles or ice axes, and there are multiple pockets for versatile organization.

Fits great. Sits high. Quality is very good. Bought it for a trip to Iceland later next month. Was worried because there are no pics anywhere of the back and being a middle-aged guy with a middle-aged back I really wanted something with a good support system. This pack has a flexible mesh support frame with lower lumbar padding in addition to upper padding. It is an awesome value on sale. Hopefully the photos upload and the great mystery of what a Salewa backpack rear panel looks like will be revealed.
Update: Took the backpack to Iceland. Its a great climbing backpack that seems to "lose weight" when you are ascending. It survived being a checked bag too.
What is the torso and waist size range on this backpack?
Andrew, not really an answer but, wanted you to know I am working on figuring it out. The Italian's from Salewa dont have that info as they dont really use it in Europe. I am trying to get our rep to grab it though because here in the U.S. we definitely use it as a fit guide.
