With the Ruffwear Track Jacket, rest assured that your dog won't get lost whether you two are hiking through a dense forest, snowshoeing across the snowcapped Alps, or just walking around the neighborhood at night. Ruffwear's designers studied the movements of active dogs and made the Track jacket so your dog will barely notice it while he or she runs, jumps, and ducks. The durable and waterproof fabric ensures your pooch won't tear it up zigzagging through trees and boulders. And if the reflective nylon isn't bright enough for you, there are three separate light loops for attaching safety lights.
- Highly visible blaze orange nylon with integrated reflective print makes your dog shine
- Three light loops make it easy for you to attach your safety lights
- Two adjustable straps ergonomically designed for the active dog
- Lightweight tension hooks offer quick and secure connection
- Durable, waterproof nylon

Still going strong
I've had this for almost 2 years and with multiple days of use per week you wouldn't know it - still holding up strong and looks new! Worth every penny since it holds up much better than most other orange wear for dogs!
It stays on!
I took this video to show you the extent to which Doc rolls - add this level of rolling with lots of bushwhacking (yesterday we attempted to get through dense bittersweet and multiflora rose) and it's amazing the vest still stays on! This jacket can stand up to anything.
Smart Dogs Wear Orange
Lookin' good, havin' fun, and stayin' safe!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This vest is wonderful. The orange is very bright, and makes spotting our golden extremely easy in the woods. We got the L/XL, which fits our 70lb girl well for length, but has a little extra room in the chest. Our dog has been hiking, and swimming in this, and the durability is amazing. We bought our first Ruff Wear vest 12 years ago, and still have it- just a little faded! I can only hope this one lasts as long!
Super bright and comfortable
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is really bright and fits my 65 lb GSD great, with room to grow (got the L/XL). When she gets deep in the trees - if there is any line of sight - I can see her with the blaze orange. She does not seem to mind it a bit, even in the humid south heat. I have yet to try it in the water, but when it rains it beads right off.
New Vs Old
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Doc has both the new and old version of the Track Jacket - I was skeptical of the new one because it's not the same ripstop lightweight water resistant fabric that the old one has and doesn't have buckles (instead the hooks slide into little slots).
I was afraid that this new version would come off him easier (he likes to roll) but I'm pleased to say that it does stay on him no matter what he seems to do. They are a little difficult to attach at times. I'm also happy that despite the new fabric It is also pretty water resistant and doesn't seem to get soaked.
It runs a little "longer" than the old one which is good and bad.
I'm guessing the new fabric might make it more "breathable" for him but I don't know since he doesn't talk. I like that there are more attachment points for lights, bells, and poop bags if you get creative. I also like that it comes down in front of his chest keeping it more centered. The central strap is also "padded" better than the old straps.
Overall it's a pretty good option if you want something blaze orange for high-viz. It is SUPER bright and reflective as this photo shows.
I'm glad I have both the new and old since they seem to serve some-what different purposes.
I have a 95lb black lab and am not sure if the large will fit him. Should I be measuring his girth right behind his front legs? I see in the comments the people who have bought the large to fit their 65-70lb dogs. My dog is tall and lean for a lab but is still about 20lbs heavier than those described in the comments.
You want to measure his girth around the fullest part of his ribcage. The L/XL Track jacket will fit a dog that has a girth of 32-42 inches. Hope this helps.
Does this serve the same purpose as a life...
Does this serve the same purpose as a life jacket? Does it help the dog float? My dog has a 22 inch chest and a 15-17 inch neck, what size would you recommend getting if I do order it?
Unfortunately, this is not a life jacket. It will not help your dog float at all. This is simply a jacket for moisture protection, general protection and visibility.
Here is a link to a ruff wear Life jacket. With the life jacket in the link, your dog would be right on the line between an XS and SM. 22 inches being the largest size for an XS and the smallest size for a Small.
