Size small fit it well on my 50 lb puppy! With a little extra room for her to grow into it. Keeps her dry and she doesn't mind wearing it all all, it was a great buy!
Just what we needed

We live in the Pacific Northwest....where it doesn't seem to quit raining. Our dog needed some coverage because she would shiver after her walk if her fur got too wet on her back. The hood also works well for us as our dog has floppy ears. She doesn't mind the hood. I don't know how we survived up until this point without this jacket....lot's of towels and a hairdryer.
good jacket, works well

This item works well, however the little hood is a bit too goofy for both me and my dog, glad they made it detachable! This item does cover well, for my 40lb kelpie, all that is left to dry off is her head and rear end.
Texas Heeler lookin sharp and ready for some wet weather!

Keeps the back AND the belly dry. Cant beat that. My dog hates clothes and he seems to be ok with this? Sweet, no wet dog smell. Plus its reflective. Removable hood.
Buy this dog raincoat if you have the money you wont regret it

So, I love it! I love that during the week when she has to go out and do her business in the rain the only thing I have to dry off is her feet... Because I KNOW she spends most of the day curled up on my bed!
Her opinion? she'd rather not wear it. The hood annoyed her (though has good coverage and she can see well with it on)... she tries to shake every so often to fold it back. I also have noticed that it takes her longer to "go" when she's wearing it. But she's also not a fan of her harness either. lol
It fits exceptionally well, has great coverage, and is of VERY high quality. I put her harness on over it when we go for a walk and it works just fine... I do find the hole in the hood for clipping the leash through to the collar to be completely useless, if we used this feature it would pull her collar up really close to her head, not at all close to wear the collar naturally lays on her.
Seems to work... too well

Well, we picked up this raincoat off of SAC for our big yellow lab, Moose.
Finally got a chance to try it out recently, and well, it seems to work... a bit too well! Now, when it's raining and 40° outside, Moose no longer has any sense of rush - he's perfectly content to take his time, sniffing about and doing his dog thing, all while I'm standing around in the pouring, miserable, rain. So, I guess this raincoat does what it's supposed to, but be warned - you may end up spending more time out in the wet and cold than you bargained for!
Size Medium on my 50# Border Collie.

I live in the Seattle area and do a lot of hiking (and general outdoorness) w/my pups. My border collie only has a single layer natural coat so gets cold when she gets wet. This coat may look a bit yuppie, but it holds up well to all our adventures. The green color really pops on a black and white dog. Agreed that the 'hood' is a bit of a joke.
The most important question people seem to have is what size to get:
I have a 48# classic build female border collie (classic meaning she's not a slim build little sport dog - she's lean, strong, and solid).
Chest circumference: 27"
Length from between the shoulder blades to base of tail: 24"
Size medium is a few inches too short on her, but otherwise fits v.well. For a size medium, I could make the chest plate only a few inches smaller, but it can go much, much wider if your dog has a deeper rib cage.
Not for small dogs

I bought this of SAC for my fiance's Chihuahua because he hates the rain. We ordered and extra small because he was about 2 inches to big for the XXS according to the measurements on the site. Every other jacket we have for him is a small or XS.
When we received the jacket, it seemed like a good size fit except that the piece that goes under the stomach was very long. When we tried it on him it covered his "Parts" which would have meant he would just pee on it. It goes a lot further on the actual product than what is pictured. In the picture it shows that it clips to the top at about the halfway mark but ours is more like 3/4 or more back.
I'm giving it 2 stars just because it seems like it could be a quality product, but the picture and sizes are misleading.

This is a great coat. My dog is 55 lbs and the medium fits him well. It doesn't reach his tail so his body may be a bit long but it does the job.
The stomach strap helps keep dirt off his belly.
He doesn't love the hood so I flip it back if it's not raining hard. It does zip off.
This is great for a dog who doesn't like to get wet, and an owner who doesn't like to dry off a soaking wet dog.

Great coat for my dog. This is a large because though the medium fit around her well enough, it was too short. She is only 55lbs, so on the leaner side for a Boxer, but has a long body. As other reviews mention, the hood is sort of useless and gets in the way, but zips off easily enough. Good quality and does the job to keep this dog who hate water, dry.
Great fit, materials and quality. Fast delivery too!

I bought the Medium rainjacket for my 55 lb. shepherd/husky mix, unsure if it would fit. But it fits perfectly! The red currant color is beautiful and the quality of the waterproof fabric is better than I expected. I took it for a "dry run" before the rain to see how my dog would behave in the jacket. He ran and played as usual. I'm sure it will help keep him dry when the rain comes. Also, very fast FREE delivery!

Alright, part of the reason I love this is my guilty pleasure of seeing my dog in a coat, but it is actually really good quality. I picked it up on SAC for $35 or so and it was a bit of a splurge but worth it. The hood could use some wiring or a chin strap to keep it over the head, but that is a minor quibble since the main thing is to keep the body dry, which it does. Took the pooch on our normal mile walk and got downpoured (it was raining...wait for it...cats and dogs...nothing...oh well), but this thing kept his body dry. Even the chest strap did a decent job of minimizing the underside getting wet. We get a lot of complements on the coat as well.

This isn't my post, but thought I'd try to help:
My 55 lb dog wears a medium, but it doesn't quite reach his butt (like the dog in this pic), but fits him really well.
My golden retriever is 64 lbs and I just ordered a large. It should fit based on the medium fitting the smaller dog.

The quality of the jacket is surprising for me. It is of very high quality. My dog refused to go out in the rain. Now when its raining. He just puts his head down to let me slip it on. It fits well on him.

This coat provided excellent coverage and rain protection, and the hood even covered my Dobie girl's ears. Her belly stayed dry. Love the adjustable side straps that stretch for a great fit.

The rain jacket is well-designed. It covers my dog from head to tail and is easy to get on and off. It also is easy to clean, just toss in the washer.

My pooch and I have tried out a few different jacket styles for both wind and rain, and this is probably the best for our climate. We live in Seattle where it's not usually very warm or terribly cold, but it is very wet. My pooch has thick, water-resistant fur but hates getting soaked. This jacket is lightweight and waterproof. It covers her entire back all the way to the base of her tail, and comes down over about 75% of her sides. Her chest is partially protected, as well. The reflective piping is a nice bonus. The detachable hood is kind of a joke, she hates it and if she turns her head it covers her eyes. We don't use it, which is why I deducted 1 star.
An added bonus is we get tons of compliments on the street, and my pooch feels dry enough that we can take long walks even when it's wet.
