Save your puppy's fluff from the rain.

It's pouring out, and maybe you just really don't want to deal with that wet-dog smell when you get back from your walk. Or maybe your pup really needs some exercise but seems to hate the rain. Either way, dressing your dog in the Ruffwear Sun Shower Dog Rain Jacket can help. The DWR-coated ripstop nylon protects your pooch from the weather. The oversized collar offers a bit more protection and can be folded down when the sun threatens to appear. Side release buckles keep the jacket on your dog's back, not constantly slipping around or sliding down. When you're exploring the city streets in the dim light of an overcast evening, the Sun Shower has reflective tape for added visibility, not to mention a specific light-loop where you can attach a bit more obvious illumination.

    work great!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought one of these for each of my monsters before a road trip to Canada. It rained a ton and these saved the day! super easy to slip on and off, kept the turds dry, and was able to avoid making my car smell like wet dog. I don't have a photo of us rocking these in the wilderness, but I do have a test fit photo showing how stoked they are wearing them.

    work great!

    Great Coat!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Purchased this rain coat for my Golden. I had issues with previous rain coats slipping to the side and exposing her back during the rain. This coats stays put and keeps her dry. She can run and play and it stays in place. Fits true to size

    Seams are stitched not taped

Probably the best dog rain vest on the market. Its not 100% waterproof but will keep your dog relatively dry. Th straps are great. A tight fit is necessary to keep the chest plate flush with the body and not sagging. They can stretch which is necessary to keep your dog comfortable if they lay down in it. Sizing is bit large. I bought the XL for my 98 lbs German Shepherd and it covers her whole body. I think its larger than their other vest styles so that it can completely protect your dogs coat. My concern is that the seams are all sewn on which is starting to contributes to leaks. If they were seam sealed with tape like tent flys then it would be completely waterproof. Otherwise its a great product to combat the "stinky wet dog" effect.

Fits my little fur buddy perfectly!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this little jacket for my dog, not because he needs a jacket, but more so that he is more visible while we are hiking around in the snow day/night. Put them bad boy on him and he does not even notice. I purchased the jacket in red. He is 17 inches tall, 25-30 lbs and the medium fits perfectly. You are able to adjust the jacket so it fit's tighter. All around, pretty happy with the fit and jacket.

First off, I'd like to say thank you to Backcountry.com and Ruffwear for hand-selecting me to review this piece of gear for the benefit of the backcountry.com community.

We recently moved from the rainy (more like misty) PNW down to the Dirty South where crazy sporadic torrential downpours are the norm. Sunny and bright one moment, dark clouds and buckets of rain the next! As much as we don't mind the rain, the pup sure does; however, once she's outfitted with the proper coat, aka the Sun Shower Rain Jacket, she's good to go.

One thing we are diggin' right off the bat about the Sun Shower is the lightweight, packable waterproof fabric that it uses. Fold it up, throw it in the pack, and off to the trails we go. If you've ever been to the South, then you know that during the summer time it can get brutally hot and humid, so something bulky is definitely out of the question. In addition to being lightweight, the Sun Shower appears to have the ability to provide quite a bit of airflow underneath so the pup won't overheat whilst doing rigorous outdoor activities. No damp feeling whatsoever!

Gracie is 40lbs of pure lean muscle, so size wise, we opted for the small. Unlike some of Ruffwears other coats, the Sun Shower fits a bit looser, so take that into consideration when sizing.

As far as colors go, they are quite a bit more subdued (drab shall I say) than their other coat colors. Maybe future versions of the Sun Shower will be brighter colors?! One can only hope!

Durability thus far has been great. Although, we've only had it for about a month, time will tell how it holds up; however, if it's anything like Ruffwear's other coats, then it should hold up quite well!

    Rain, Rain, Come and Stay!
