He isn't a puppy anymore. Let him carry his own water.

Ruffwear designed its Singletrak Pack in such a comfortable way that your pooch will barely notice that he's carrying his own water on your day hikes. Five adjustable points offer a customizable fit, foam padding on the straps don't rub him the wrong way, and low-profile saddlebags make sure he can still run, jump, and bound through the forest like he always does without the pack on. Ruffwear included two soft-sided, collapsible water bottles for your convenience, and they're BPA-free and taste-free for Fido's convenience. A reflective trim ensures low-light visibility when the sun sets over his squirell-chasing, hole-digging, tree-sniffing adventures.

    Perfect for Smaller Pups

    • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought as a present - but it looks great! I got a Medium for lab mix 10 month old puppy -- currently 40 lbs and expected to grow a few more. The fit works now with all the straps tightened, so it should work as she grows too!

The size of the pack is pretty good for day hikes. There are two water bottles in the bigger pockets on either side and then the smaller pockets can hold some kibble or treats -- not too much else though!

Holding off on 5 stars because we've yet to use it on a hike to see how Shelby likes actually wearing it!

    Great for active pups!

My brother has a bird dog, and he needed something to make him feel "on the job" for hikes so he doesn't get distracted with that nose. This pack was perfect, it makes him carry water for the both of them and he feels like he's "working".

    Awesome Pack

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Deserves all the 5 star ratings it gets. Ruffwear products are solid.

The .6L bladders provided are kind of small for longer trips. I was able to fit 1L platypus on each side with some "stuffing" (after zipped up, everything laid flat). 1L Nalgene bottles also fit, but there is a significant lump on the inside for your dog.

Anyways I searched all over for this info, so I figured Id share it.

Oslo goes nuts when this pack comes out because he knows it means trail time. My wife loves it because, now that Oslo can carry his own water, she can take him on up to 15-mile trail runs no problem. Great fit and perfect features. Only drawback is one of the pocket zippers broke after several months of hard use.

    Perfect pack for day trips

My dog had the older style Singletrak in orange, and grew out of it, so I bought the newer gray style. My only complaint is that it is no longer available in orange, because we do a lot of hiking during hunting season, and I felt safer when she was wearing bright orange.

Besides that, the pack is great. It holds water, treats, bags, a leash, and even my keys and cell phone if I want. We use it both in the city and out in the backcountry. It is very unobtrusive, and doesn't impact my dog's ability to run, jump, swim, etc.

We have been getting RuffWear products for our two German Shepherds for awhile now; we have a couple collars and we initially got the Approach pack for our white German Shepherd, Stark, but when he wore it, it looked too lopsided and clunky, and he honestly looked like he was in pain. Enter the SingleTrak. The first time we put it on him, he wasn't happy and drug his feet, but now he is starting to get accustomed to it, and we couldn't be happier. It's what you would expect from RuffWear products: phenomenal quality, great fit, and just right for our 80 lb guy. I will say it is small for what it costs, but I know that, like the Approach, you pay for the quality of the product and not just the size. Our guy will be carrying water and bowls, and maybe a few things of food, while our girl will be carrying the rest of the food and any other dog necessities (first aid, mainly). Overall, highly recommend to everyone who has experienced their dog seeming unhappy on a trail because of a clunkier pack (must note that our girl doesn't mind the Approach at ALL, and it is a great dog pack as well, just not quite suited for our tall, skinny boy).

I have a 1 1/2 year old pit that has a lot of energy. We decided to work her as much as possible to keep her from being too hyper in the house. We use the pack for her walks, runs, and about twice a week we go off on trails. She really enjoys wearing it and its nice for holding keys, phones, and mp3 so I don't have to carry a thing. The pack stays put very well but I will say it must be balanced somewhat. Occasionally the straps need to be readjusted as they do loosen a little over time.

    Ruffwear Pack

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I purchased this pack for my dog Sitra, who is a doberman/husky mix. She's about 65 lbs, very tall, with a narrow waist. The medium fit her very well. The pack has leash clips at the front and back, which is great for a puller. The water bladders work well, although I have also used regular water bottles and they fit fine. Pack stays very centered, no leaning to one side or the other. Well worth the money spent!

My son and his dog LOVE this water pack!

    • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This Ruffwear Singletrak Pack fit exactly as measured and adjusted very comfortably. There were no negative effects on the dog's range of motion. The dog carried our emergency water, which was needed once by one of our hike party in Zion NP. The water was good enough for the human, so it would be great for the dog. The dog did need to become accustomed to not brushing against people's legs ...and he did. The only request was, if there were any other color options.

    Ruffwear Singletrak Pack

    Love it!

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I'm addicted to Ruffwear. Their products are always tough, they have a great warranty policy, and you can just tell that the people designing these products do a great job of testing and refining the gear with their own four legged companions.

I use a size small on my 45 pound Australian Cattle Dog and it's a perfect fit. I normally use it for hiking and trail running so she can carry everything for me, but it also gets the job done for an overnight backpacking trip. The two water bags fit well and haven't cracked in the two years I've used the pack. Along with the full water bottles the pack can store her fold up water dish, poop bags, and around 3 cups of food. She has no problem running at full sprint with the Singletrak on and never seems to be uncomfortable with it.

I'm hoping to pick up the Palisades pack as well soon so she can carry all her own food and gear for longer trips, but the Singletrak is perfect for shorter hikes and trail running. It doubles as a great harness as well, I've even been able to use it to have her pull me around on my longboard without any issues. I highly recommend this pack and Ruffwear gear in general!

    Great fit!

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I was looking for a small pack for my small dog. Most have over-sized bags. This one seemed just right and the harness provides an excellent fit and keeps the pack centered on her back. It seems very comfortable and does not inhibit any running, jumping, or other activity.

    Great fit!

Would I get the same size in this pack that I got in my ruffwear harness? Is the fit/sizing consistent across products?
