Rat terrier (mix?). This is an xxs size jacket. He is 10 pounds, has a 15" girth, 10" neck, and is 11" long from the base of the neck to the tail.

Has anyone had any problems with the K-9 Overcoat irritating their dogs in the underarm areas? I have a very fine-haired, thin-skinned English Pointer mix, and we were interested in this coat for his trail running, but were concerned about it possibly irritating his skin. Thanks!

Hey there, the chest flap doesn't go into the armpits of the dog if you order the correct size... so you shouldn't have any rubbing issues!

Large size excellent fit for amstaff

Large size excellent fit for amstaff

My amstaff weighs 67lbs and very muscular and i thought the large actually was a bit big but the side straps was adjustable that a large size fit him well. I would say a medium would be perfect although i wasn't sure if it would cover his rump perfectly like this one did.

Ruffwear K-9 Overcoat is Awesome

Not only does this look really nice and comfy but the fitting is perfect even if i got the larger size for my dog. There is a snap adjustment on the side that would make the outfit snug on my dogs chest. The inside seems like it's made out of some nylon thin fleece lining which won't make your dog itch unlike other outfits. i love how it really looks. i'm uploading a photo of it soon!

good jacket...

This jacket is fleece lined and seems to be somewhat rain resistant on top. I intend to try it over the ruffwear soft-shell jacket or the fleece jacket and see if that works for very cold in the snow.....the newer version has the buckles hidden underneath the jacket it seems...The medium is a bit big on my 40lb kelpie.

Great stuff!

Ordered a small and medium for my pit bull/basenji mix. She weighs 31 lbs and the small is perfect. Ruff Wear stuff is simply the best stuff out there for our outdoor furry friends! Can be expensive but trust me...it's worth it! You're pooch will be the coolest on the block in this jacket!

This coat will be great for my dog this winter. The size small fits my 40ish pound Brittany well everywhere except the neck area. I will probably cut it open a little more. He is small but, stocky in the chest and neck. If your dog is more petite in that area, it would work just fine. Also, no fabric got in the way when mother natured called. If your dog sheds a lot I can see where the fleece liner might get a little matted with hair but, I like the fact that it will be warm and comfortable for him.

I have a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. Her girth is 17 inches & I'm trying to decide if I should get the XXS or XS. She is 14 inches from shoulder to rump with a slim build. Any suggestions?

I would go with the xxs, My large dog chest fits hers just fine, but her waist is so small I have to time up the bottom so it fits right

Awesome Jacket

This jacket is such high quality just like all of ruffwear stuff. My dog is happy wearing it and really seems extra warm for this winter. I am looking forward to using it snowshoeing and skiing. He is a border collie, 40 lbs or less and the small fits him great! I can see where the neck might be too small for a large bulky necked dog but it works great for my thinner necked guy. Great jacket, Great purchase!

Dog loves it

My dog likes wearing this, as opposed to his harness which can tend to rub/chafe.

My favorite thing about this jacket is he can still urinate with it on. Other jackets I looked at were too long underneath, so he would have been "peeing his coat."

Sizing... I've got a 3 yr old female lab that weighs in about about 63-65 lbs. She's on the slender side for sure - American Lab, not English Lab - what do you guys think about sizing? Medium or Large?

Thanks!

Medium.
Our Lab, he's in the photo in the green overcoat...
He is about 65lbs and is wearing a medium in the photo.

Our Vizsla, Bodi loves this coat so much. It hung by the front door all winter when we lived in Germany. He would even wear it in the car for cold morning drives. It sheds light water, but you can also spray waterproofer on the front. The inside is fleece and keeps him warm and it is machine washable for those muddy days! This is our second coat because he outgrew his puppy one from his frist year.

Happy So Far

It's not yet really cold here in New York, so it's too early to say how this will handle mid-winter weather. But the Ruffwear K-9 Dog Overcoat seems to be very well made, and fits my Tyrolean Hound nicely.

I'm not big on bright colors for my dog, so I would have preferred dark color options, esp. black.

A nice piece of doggy gear

Overall I'm pretty pleased with this. It's very well-made and super tough. My dog wears it at the barn and hasn't put a tear in it. The reflective stripe is really visible (great for morning runs), and the buckles work nicely - easy on, easy off. The fleece lining is soft, but hair definitely sticks to it like glue. I like this jacket best for cool wet weather - it definitely keeps my dog dry - but it's not the warmest dog coat available. When it's under 30 my dog still gets cold with this on.
I ended up getting a large for my fairly long Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and it's maybe a hair short, but the next size up would have been too big.
