    Warm and happy pupper

I ordered a S for my 10 month old heeler. His chest girth is about 23 inches and it fit him perfectly! The fleece is good quality and actually keeps him super warm on our night walks in about 30 degree weather. He never shivers anymore! The length fit him perfectly and I would definitely recommend this for someone who wants to keep their dog warm while not restricting movement.

    Warm and happy pupper

    awesome

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love that this has full chest coverage. The zipper makes it super easy for on off too. I have a male dog and this fits in all the right spots so he doesn't get anything on it when going to the bathroom. perfect addition for chilly morning walks. I have noticed that the sleeves are wearing on his skin though so ill have to keep an eye

    Runs small, disappointed with size

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I normally LOVE Ruffwear products. Our 59 lb, 27 inch girth boxer/rottie mix is right in between sizes small and medium but Ruffwear recommends sizing down for most products and we have a Ruffwear Float Coat, Track Jacket, and Approach Pack all in size small (the Track Jacket is S/M) and they fit him perfectly. I ordered this in a small and I can't even get it on him. I would suggest this would fit a dog up to 24-25 inch girth only.

This is also a lot thinner than I thought it would be. It would be ideal for smooth haired dogs for outside activity in cold weather or on cool days but would not be warm enough for just lounging around on really cold days. Our pup has a very short smooth coat and based on the description I thought this would have a little more loft and be warmer.

    My dog appreciates it

My dog gets cold at ridiculous temperatures. I have woken up sweating on summer nights while she is shivering beside me. I got tired of having to share my sleeping bag, so I decided it was time for her to get a jacket. This is a nice fleece, it keeps her much warmer, and is all she needs on most nights. Its also great for neighborhood walks when the weather is really gnarly. I usually don't leave it on her when she is off leash, especially if we are bushwacking or hiking on a brushy trail because she managed to rip a good sized hole in the front shouldler of the fleece by snagging on a branch shortly after we got it. The reflective stripes down the back of the fleece are really cool, and they can make a surprising difference at night. Its a little thinner than expected, and I'll probably pair it with a thicker insulated jacket at some point. For now it does the job well.

Good quality. I needed chest measurement

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Very well made shirt. I especially like this shirt covers my dog's belly better than any other dog shirts I have ever purchased and angle of neck to chest area is perfect.
But I gave 4 stars because when I purchased, there were no chest measurement. So I have to pick size by neck measurement and length of shirt from this website which made my 1st order to be wrong size. (XS was too narrow around the chest. )
But chest measurements are actually available on tag once I received the shirt and suggested customer service person (was nice) to add these info. on their website.
Anyway, here is the chest measurements from the tag.
    XXS:13-17INCH
    XS:17-22INCH
S:22-27INC (My 27LB Cocker spaniel fits this size)
    M:27-32INCH

    Solid fleece, fits great!

I bought this fleece for my 60 pound pitbull before we took our most recent trip to the desert for some winter camping and climbing. Temps were mid 50's during the day and right around freezing at night. This fleece fit him great; he has a pretty thick chest but is not very long so I have had trouble finding jackets that fit him in the past. I more or less ended up picking this fleece because it was the only model that was in stock at the time in his size (medium). Given the fact that he is a pitbull, he naturally lacks fur and I don't think that this fleece was quite warm enough for this trip, but it was better than nothing and he was happy to have it... despite having to rock a fuchsia fleece all weekend (once again, this was the only one available that would fit him). Good thing he is colorblind haha. Here he is pictured in his snazzy new fleece with a spare down jacket draped over him to keep him warm at the shaded crag.

    Solid fleece, fits great!

It's been a cold winter so far and my Vizsla is about 55lbs and wearing a size medium, this jacket has been keeper super warm and is showing no sign of wear as she bounds through the bushes. What I like about the jacket is it zips on, where others we have used have velcro and seem to fall off as she runs.

    Fit is not well established

Love this product if I could have got the fit we needed. It is well made, soft and has features I was looking for. I normally hold back from reviews and especially bad ones but I'm very disappointed with this company. Based on the many reviews, I ordered an XS for a mini doxie who is healthy in size both long and girth. I could literally fit another dog in with her. Most disappointing is while the sales people are nice they don't really care that you already paid shipping to receive the product and welcome that you pay it again to return the product. It's a win win for them. Not even trying the smaller size, I can't afford to try.

      Very soft and well built!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When first looking for a nice jacket for my old girl to help keep her warm this winter and to ease her arthritis, I wanted to get the Ruffwear Quinzee, but when it came time to order it was out of stock. So, I decided to try this one, even though the picture didn't really sell me on it. I ordered the Medium and could not be happier with the quality and softness of this dog coat. I am very happy I decided to order it. My dog Gypsy is a Medium sized German Shorthair Pointer, about 35 pounds and the Medium, while a little big in the back, but fits perfectly at the neck. I've always had issues with sweaters and other shirts falling down her shoulders and causing movement issues, with this jacket that is not the case. The easy zip up side is super nice and haven't had any issues with it catching, and the reflective material on the back helps me to keep an eye on her outdoors. I have a few other photos I will post here once I get home, and I will post her measurements here as well to help future buyers out. I just don't have those measurements on me right now.

      Very soft and well built!

      Brimby's review

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Last year my owner searched, and searched. The coats she ordered were either poor quality and/or terrible fit. There were times I looked so ridiculous, I wanted to hide. Then she came across the Climate Changers. She was very happy because they are made from quality materials, and covered my chest and tummy. Zipper and zipper head is covered with fleece material; no catching my hair in them. Machine washable. For fear of shrinkage, she chose not to place in dryer. However, they air dry quickly. It is true about the sizing. I weigh 87+ pounds dry. I am a good-looking male with a Boxer head, adorable Lab face, and a sleek Malinose body. The medium fits me almost perfectly. Neck size and body length perfect. The neck is low for my collar to be seen, especially at night. The leg coverage is snug, but not uncomfortable. Because I have Malinois body, it is a little loose towards the end. There is a reflective stripe on both sides that is seen during our nightly walks. This is the second winter I have worn my orange, or grey Climate Changers. They still look new. Whether I am running or rolling on the grass, I must say I do look handsome in them. P.S. Please don't tell her, but sometimes she needs to wear her glasses. It takes a bit of time for her to see the zipper head to connect the zipper. I am a gentleman. I sit patiently and quietly looking looking forward to the walk or ride! Good lighting...no problems. She wanted to buy another, but I refuse to wear any shade of pink.

      VeryNiceJacket

I have a Euro-Doberman, at 15 months he is 94 lbs and very muscular. I bought the XL thinking that it would be a little big but he is still a pup and he will grow into it. Smart Me, but the time he grows to fit it, it well be nice out. Besides being a little big for him he loves it and looks forward to putting it on. A little fold on it when we first get Outside, to keep him from peeing in it and we're off. We are looking forward to our insulated jacket for Christmas.

        way too small

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I read the reviews before ordering this. I even contacted a sales rep thru chat and asked about the sizing. He said yep, you're good to go! I looked at other reviews and they even admit these jackets run small!! how about they just SAY they run small instead of having the customer go thru the hassle of returning, extra postage, etc? REALLY irritating. this jacket is great quality, well made and I look forward to getting one that fits. BUT it isn't sized correctly. I would suggest they add chest measurement. my vizsla couldn't even walk in this jacket.

        Excellent Product!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First off, make sure that you look at the measurements first. It does run larger then most others. I have a small dog and got the XS and it fit her perfectly. She loves it. I would highly recomment this especially if your dog is outside a lot.

        Way too large!

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

My dog is 9lbs with very little body fat and a lot of fur. I ordered the xxs size and I couldn't get the coat zipped up. The XS just arrived and it's way too large. Not to mention the coat was completely filthy with dirt – like someone had dusted with it! Sorry to say I'm returning it.

        He can't walk in it!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The jacket LOOKS great on my 110# black lab. I got the same size XL in this jacket as I got in the Ruffwear float coat. The float coat is PERFECT, but my poor dog cannot WALK in this jacket. His front legs at the shoulders are impinged. The poor dog stands there and looks at me helplessly. Trying to decide whether to cut the legs open and risk ruining it, or returning it. Very disappointed, because otherwise it fits him perfectly and it's just what I would've wanted.

you could cut the arms up so wider or cut off at chest. BUT odds are your lab does not need this coat at all. My labs are out swimming in single digit weather...what they are bred to do!!

They have oil in their coat like ducks so water rolls off.

As to joints, i have RA and icy water numbs the pain...i noticed my dogs do same thing...mastiff with wrecked joints stands in winter lake up to joint area.

You might have the dog lose some weight. Average lab should weigh from female ( 55-70) males(65-80). my lab likes emu oil on his hurt leg...i use it too! At least will not make them sicker like many pills. Our mastiff is at 160lbs and he stands much higher than my lab. He should be at 150 too..working on getting his weight down now.

But try cutting the arms either all way off or shorten them..just do not cut past stitching for the arms...

Great quality, sizing prob, bad color

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The quality of this jacket is outstanding. The fleece is super soft and thick without being bulky. Obviously well made too. Based on the size chart, I initially bought the small for my small but muscular pitbull. It was way too tight around her neck, so I returned it for a medium, which is a little long, but I am going to hem it to it ends at the base of her tail. The only complaint I have is the color of the jacket. The black one is very sharp looking, but the purple dusk is more of a dusty rose or raspberry- not purple AT ALL. Doesn't look great on her but since all the other mediums are gone I will have to stick with it.

Just wondering what size my dog would fit...

Just wondering what size my dog would fit best in. On the Ruffwear website, he fits a medium for the "Climate Changer", but on your website he fits a small.

His measurements are... neck 18.5, back length 24, chest 28.

Please let me know what you suggest.

        Red,

Based on the measurements you've provided, if I were getting the Climate Changer for your dog I'd get the medium.

The small will be too short but will fit the neck perfectly. Where as the medium will be long enough but the neck will have a skosh of extra room. But that is generally okay due to room for the collar.

Would it be possible to get a replacement...

Would it be possible to get a replacement zipper? We love the fleece, but our boxer/pit thought it was time to take it off and wrecked the zipper. Thanks!
