It's getting dark and you need to take your pup for a walk. Instead of strapping a heavy flashlight to Spot's chest, grab the Ruffwear Beacon Safety Light. This lightweight LED light clips onto all Ruffwear collars, packs, coats, lifejackets, and harnesses. The watertight Beacon Safety Light emits light forward left, forward right, backward, and straight up, and the four LED bulbs won't need replacing. Press the button for a slow flash, again for fast flash, again for continuous light, and again to turn off. Clip this 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.2in beacon to yourself on your solo night runs.

Bottom Line: Glow-in-the-dark dog.

I Want One For Myself!

We walk our dog, Sofie, a lot. Many times in the winter, it's either dark in the morning or at night by the time we can go for a walk, so I have always looked for ways to announce ourselves to cars and other things that need to see us. This was purchased along with a reflective jacket for Sofie. The jacket has a loop sewn into the top (on her back) of the jacket that this light slips onto perfectly. I LOVE THIS LIGHT! You CAN see it blink from many angles, rather than just the way the light happens to be facing. With the light on top of her back, facing straight up to the sky, you can see it blink from all sides of her. (Except from underneath, lol!) Bright? It is VERY bright! It has 3 "on" patterns, (1): blink-blink-blink-pause, blink-blink-blink-pause, etc. (2): blink-pause-blink-pause, etc. (3): steady on. The light has continued to function after and during rainstorm walks, misty rain walks, icy sub-freezing walks, and although I haven't had it for summer heat yet, I don't feel there will be any problem given what it has already "weathered"!
I recommend that this be a priority purchase if you have your animal out after dusk, it slides onto a standard collar or even clips onto clothing, and I want to get one to put on the back of a hat or collar of a coat, even the waistband of your pants will work!

This thing is well made and attaches very well and does not appear it will come off. Ruffwear rules. Why can't the human companies produce quality products now?

This should give you an idea of how big the light is when its on the collar. I keep it permanently attached to his "adventure" collar along with a tiny bell so its always at hand when I need it.

Necessary!

Lights are a great idea for dogs at night. Period. Whether I'm walking/running with my dog, or just let him out in the yard, I put this on him. If he were ever to get loose, he practically becomes invisible at night, and could easily get hit.

This is a pretty good light- I've had it about 3 years, and it's still going strong. It has a few different settings (flash/strobe/solid) and is nice and bright. It stays clipped on to the collar (or jacket) very well. I've lost other lights b/c they fell off... but not this one. The light stays on so well, that if I try to pull it off in a hurry, it has actually come apart. The top to it will come off of the base. It easily clips back together, and still works fine, but because of this flaw I only give it 4 stars.

Ruffwear has an lifetime warranty- so if it does ever break/stop working, I'm sure you could send it back!! Awesome company!!

Beacon for Sure

I absolutely loved this light till the metal key ring broke off and the light got lost. However, i kept the light keyringed to the collar and also clipped to my black labs collar at all times. It seemed that when ever I needed it I didnt have it so it became a temporary permanent attachment to his collar. It isnt the smallest light, but it did not seem to bother my pup at all. I really liked the light while I had it though. Used it when I let the dog out to go to the bathroom. We have a big yard with no fence and my dog disappears due to his black coat. It also works well for night time trail runs. I didnt know that it was waterproof till i read some of these reviews. I will definitely get another one due to this feature while using at the river. I might try to use some very small cordage to tie the light to the collar this time. It the end, I would definitely recommend this product to others.

Works well

This is a great bit to add to your dog walking/running gear bag. A little larger than I thought it would be, but that's a great thing for visibility at night.

Since I own a Black Lab mix, this is a must have for walks/runs at night.

The only little knit-pick I have is that the button could be bigger and more pronounced for turning it off and on with gloves.

I love the beacon. It works great for walking at night. My battery only lasted one year. Now I'm trying to find out how to replace the battery.

temporary freakout

My dog didn't like this at first. The blinking lights made the dog go berzerk the first couple times we used it, but eventually, things calmed down.

Works great - try not to drop it

By:

We bought the safety light to be able to spot our puppy in the yard and night and to wear on walks in the evening because we live on a busy street. The light is very bright and isn't heavy so doesn't seem to bother her at all. I did knock it off the counter though the other day and now it occasionally won't turn off unless you give it a good smack. It still functions or else I would have sent it back but try to be careful not to drop it.
