Description

Kill the dead-spot and improve your performance

Rotor first explored the use of alloy 30mm bottom bracket spindles through their involvement with the Cervelo Test Team. And while the Trinity drilled arms and compatibility with round or Q-Rings remains the same, these Rotor 3D Plus Road Cranks have a few small differences in comparison to their 3D Road Cranks.

The stiffness, lightness, and strength are unchanged. The 3D Plus Road Crankarms are all of that thanks to Rotor's Trinity Drilling System. On this crank they drill all three parallel bores from the spindle end rather than alternating the direction of the bores from both ends of the crankarms as on the 3D Road Cranks. Through this same-end drilling process, they are able to relieve the 3D Plus crankarms of even more excess material and therefore excess weight, while maintaining the rigidity and strength you need. The CNC machine work and laser etched graphics give Rotor cranks a distinctly industrial appearance.

The 30mm alloy spindle is sized to work with either BB Right or BB30 standards. Rotor includes the appropriate fittings for both systems. In fact, with the proper Rotor bearing cups (BB30-BSA), the 3D Plus Cranks can be used in a standard 68mm English-threaded or Italian-threaded bottom bracket shell. In any application, Rotor's clever design and machine work is evidenced by their use of a locking preload collar that makes bearing adjustment a breeze once the crankarms are installed and torqued to spec. This preload collar is another difference from the standard 3D Road Cranks as they use a different system to connect it all together.

The Rotor 3D Plus Road Crankarms come with an anodized black finish and are available in three crankarm lengths -- 170, 172.5, and 175mm. Select from two BCD/chainring options -- 110mm for compact 50/34 or 130mm for standard 53/39. The alloy spider attaches to the splined base of the drive-side crankarm and is secured with a lockring. It can be removed and swapped for another with a different BCD should you need to make the switch from compact to standard gearing or vice-versa. This same adaptability allows retrofits with crank spider-based powermeters such as SRM or Quarq CinQo Saturn. It can also fitted with Q-Rings or Rotor's round chainrings, it's your choice, and chainring bolts are included. The 3D Plus Cranks have a 147mm Q-factor.
