Description

Wherever you may roam.

Until now, the only limiting factor in your quest to explore every last crevice of the resort has been your kit, but the days of your equipment petering out before your legs do is finally over. The Rossignol S3 Ski features a rockered twintip profile that dances in the powder, rides a mean switch in the park, and maneuvers like a snow leopard on hardpack. Oh yeah, it also slays in the backcountry, so don't feel like your quest to ride it all needs to stop at the boundary rope.
  • Powder Turn rocker in the tip and tail provide excellent flotation when the going gets deep and fluffy
  • Traditional camber underfoot delivers more edging power and grip so you don't skid out on the groomers
  • Sandwich laminate construction features a wood core, carbon laminates, and fiberglass sheeting for increased durability and a lighter feel
  • Centered Sidecut tapers the at the tip and tail for better responsiveness
  • Wood core delivers a natural-feeling flex that will stand up to seasons of use
  • Spoon-shaped tip maximizes flotation, and a deep radius increases edge grip and steer-ability

Has anyone used these for tele? They are my go to for my AT riding (186) and thought of maybe getting a pair for tele with a set of black diamond o1s on them in a 176.

Just picked up a pair of Rossi S3 (178 cm) at a sweet deal. Thinking about getting a pair of hammerheads for them. The 0" line on the ski seems pretty far back and the +5 line seem right but +5 seems pretty extreme. Any thoughts? If it matters I'm 5'6", 145-150lbs and where a size 25 garmont boot.

Go with the 0" line... The line is oriented on the ski's effective edge..because the S3's have early rise tips on them...it will setback the effective edge

Crazy fun ski

Turns like crazy, ski's a bit short (go a bit longer than you'd expect.. tip and tail rocker and all that). Works well on groomed stuff and okay in the crud. Not sure I buy that the tip shape helps with flotation, but it works well enough. Confidence inspiring most of the time.

Love 'em.

Demo'd these last weekend at Whistler. LOVE them! I'm a fairly aggressive intermediate skier who has older B3's (bargain), at 185cm, Line Prophet 130's at 186cm(a bit heavy for me at 6'2"+ and 170lbs). Skied the S3's at 186 and loved the control(trees, glades, soft bumps). Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was I never got to try any light, fluffy powder, but suspect I would love them based on other reviews. Skis shorter due to closer contact points, so control is much better than my other skis. Would buy these right now if I could find a deal and had the cash.

What's a good binding mount on the 186?...

What's a good binding mount on the 186? Does this ski mount center and still float? Thinking i was going to mount center. This is not my powder ski. Thanks for any input.

Responded on

Not sure what bindings would be good for these skis exactly but market is always a good choice! I have a pair of head binding on my s3 and they work well. There also mounted in the center, and you surely will get float being centered! These are my powder skis since I'm an east coaster but i ski out west and they are extraordinary in any condition!

My 186's, I mounted my Axial2 120 bindings at a +1 and I too am from the east. I am an aggressive skier that like the trees and really fast lines.

I love to ski tight trees and love to explore everywhere on and off piste. I'm 5' 10" 185lbs, around expert level skier. Should i go for 178 or 186? I could get a deal on some 178's. Would the 186's be too long for trees with powder? thanks

Responded on

If you are an expert skier you could probably go either way. With the rocker/camber combo on the S3 you'll get a much shorter turning radius than it would seem for the ski length. That said, if you ski a lot of trees and expect quick turning you probably want the 178's. At 185 if you ski a bunch of powder you'll definitely see a bit more float from the 186's. I have a friend about that size with the 178's and he wishes he got the longer ones.

Responded on

if you ski really tight trees go with 178. I don't know how tight your talking about but i ski in NH and there some glades that are real tight and if you have long skis your screwed.

I have Baron bindings on my S3's, just decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the heavier binding improved the feel of the ski. I am very satisfied with the setup and suspect you will be, as well...skin to win.

179.These tend to ski short. Maybe even the 186 if you are aggressive.

Just too fun

Love this off trail. I know people who also like to tele on it.
