I rode the last two years of the Scratch BC, before the S5 replaced them (pretty much same ski as BC and Brigade). At 98mm underfoot, they're pretty much the perfect one ski quiver...IF you're not looking for any Rocker. It takes a bit of effort to get them up on edge to arc the first time, but once you've done it once, you'll never go back. Bottom line, they rip. I've worn them in gates, mashing bumps, crud and SnoCat skiing, they handle it all, with the versatility of a one-ski quiver.
Anyone got any info on a good mount position for these? Am looking

Mounted neutral which is good. You don't want to get too far over the tip on these.

I would say do it - I ripped these skis during demo day on chop and nasty and also used my friends pair in some new snow (not deep) and these skis excelled. +1 should be adequate.

These skis are awesome. Super playful, stiff under foot but soft in the tips. My quiver of one. They work fine at crud busting and they dominate the moguls and feel stable all the time. They are pretty quick edge to edge as well.I took them to Silverton CO this year and to wolf creek CO during the 72 inch storm and they ripped the soft snow and powder despite not being rockered or super fat. I mounted them at the 0 mark and it has worked well for me so far. If you want a good all around all mountain ski look no further.
PS. The pictures of them online do not do these skis justice. These skis are a beautiful work of art.

3 Season Update

I know this years model may be a little different than the Scratchs I have, but I figure I would let everyone know what durable skis these are. I originally bought em as an all mountian ski, but they transitioned to my park ski after the first season( I like something a bit fatter for everyday riding) Riding the mass of rocks that is known as Big Sky Montana most of my skis get upwards of five core shots a season. This season I received a gnarly 3 inch core shot right along the edge. I was about to go to Jackson so I didn't get it base welded right away. Well sure enough one day in Jackson the edge broke. It bent out a bit, but still rode fine. The in Utah I looked down to see 4 inches of the edge sticking out from the ski. I twisted it off, and kept skiing. Despite missing the edge they still do alright in the park, and I enjoy the feeling of plastic on a metal rail. So to wrap this up these skis are versatile, and a great all around park oriented ski.

Well, it has a nice flex under foot, with a GS race ski side cut, so it can do well in the pow, as well as on the groomers.

this ski is a 2010 model so it hasnt really been tested on snow. It has a wider turn radius but will still do well on groomers and bumps.

The S5 was a surprisingly great ski. I picked these up in last years model in the plastic from a buddy of mine and had them mounted up with a cheaper binding thinking they'd be my goof off skis. Turns out they are one of my favorite skis that I put about 35 days on this season, and this is why:- I am used to skiing at the widest an 80mm waist, specifically the CX80. Both in pow or in spring cheese these were the perfect ski with awesome responsiveness, light touch, and a softer finish than your square tail skis. A centered stance on these off piste will have great and bountiful rewards.- These grip and carve on hardpack - again, a centered stance is key. Break at the waist and get the center of mass too far forward and you'll find a softer tip than that carver you've been railing on.- They are light. I mean like "hey look what I found in my happy meal night to my fries" light. They have two types of wood at the core which provides pop while conserving weight.- My years version were drop dead sexy. I am talking big time wearable art. This year's ski is semi cool, but the 08'-09' version makes my wife jealous.I have had some people talk about a delay to edge that occurs with the wider skis, and this is true, but an accurate expert skier who has command over their movements has no reasons to complain.
