Point the Rossignol Phantom SC 108 at any mountain range, and watch as it falls to its knees before your very eyes. The stealthy black successor to the green missile that was last year’s B-Squad, the Phantom 108 is your own personal avy-triggering howitzer, ready to cut loose on the biggest lines and turn huge terrain to debris in your wake. With the same crust-munching Shark Nose tip, vertical sidewall, and dual titanium-over-wood-core laminate construction that made the B-Squad a respected contender in every big-mountain freeskiing contest, the Phantom 108 is 4mm wider underfoot, for better float in snorkel central and stability for stomping 40-footers. “But wait” you say, “I don’t huck anything that big, man.” Well then, bring a book and an apple, buddy, because you’re going to spend some time in the back seat. This ski is a Sherman tank with nitrous boost in the right hands, and an out-and-out liability in the wrong ones.
Just ordered these (195s) on SAC. In my haste to get the deal, I neglected to read all reviews. Now that I have (read the reviews), I'm unsure this ski will be great for me.
I'm 6'9", 240#, agressive, and looking for an all-mountain ski that I can huck and ski with the kids on occasion. Any thoughts?
Hi. I'm planing to get one of these for the next season and was thinking to put Marker duke bindings on but not sure if that's good idea. I'm not planing to spent much time by hiking just time to time . And also need help with sizing. I'm 165lbs and 5ft9''. At the moment i'm skiing on Line Elizabeth 171, Rossignol Scratch 179 and Stoeckli laser cross pro 178. Thanks
Write your answer here... I have a pair of Dukes on the 185 length. The stock ski brake fits like a glove. The skis performed the best in corn snow. I found them giving me a wicked workout when skinning up a 2000 ft of vertical. Don't ask how heavy they are, cause if you need to know, you shouldn't buy them. I also found them great in super saturated deep wet powder. One ski submarined on me in that 22" melee and it felt like being on a leg press machine trying to bring it back up to the surface. So, you need a Class I license to ride these skis. Stay off the groomers with these bad asses, otherwise, you'll run right over people in front of you and you won't even feel the bump.

This ski one of the best skis I ever skied on. Got one in the end of the season in march and can say had some awesome skiing in spring snow (crust, ice and slush). Haven't skied on them in chest deep pow yet. This ski likes to go fast very fast and big GS-turns on slopes and in the backcountry. Not much fun in trees or narrow terrain but can still do it. I used them like all day skis (morning long turns on emptied slopes and later in the day took them to backcountry).
I'm trying to figure out which ski is best for me. I am an ex-junior olympic east coast ski racer (15 yrs ago!) and now mostly ski in the west but like to ski fast on groomers, and also hit the powder. I am about 110 lbs and people keep trying to put me into women's skiis and they feel like butter! My last pair of racers was volkl. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Although I don't doubt you can handle this ski, 185cm or 195cm might be over kill for someone your size. Check out the Volkl Gotama and 4FRNT VCT. These skis are some of the stiffest choices in the freeride ski category. Both skis are awesome and have been some of the best reviewed skis over the past few years. Plus you will have more size options to best fit your needs. You might also check out the Volkl Bridge it's probably the best all-mountain ski available.
Are you going to be getting any 185s in soon? Also, I've called 7 different ski shops (at Alta, Snowbird, and in the valley) and no one is mounting the SC 108 as a demo. Any chance that Backcountry will start a demo program and mount up the SC 108 in a 185 as the inaugural demo ski? I'd love to try it before I buy it. Thanks.
If they don't work for you, Backcountry will help you exchange them for some you like. We're not doing demos, you may want to contact Rosignol for demo dates and availability if you're dead set on trying it first.
I am assuming this is your powder ski. You are going to want a burly ski at your size - something in the Dynastar, Blizzard or Volkl line might be better. Dynastar Legend Pro or Pro Plus, Blizzard Titan IQ or a Volkl Katana or Kuro would all be great choices. The Kuro is the most powder specialized ski - the Pros and Katana would be more versatile. While the Rossi is a nice ski, the guys I know your size generally overpower Rossis and Salomons.
