The front-side carving Rossignol Classic 80 Ti Ski digs the chords, the bumps, the traverses and everything in between. Backed up with strong metal reinforcements and Axial2 biding system, this front-sider is ready to carve. Based on a tough wood core sandwich design, the Classic 80 snaps and pops just like you like it, while the internal VAS absorbption technology sucks up chatter when you’re maching down the groomers. The Classic’s flat tail ensures powerful carves and easy tracking on variable snow, and the included Axial2 140 Ti binding fends for your soft tissues when you get after it.

Bottom Line: Carve it up.

I bought a pair of these recently and agree that you probably can't find a better ski for hard groomers and ice. These things have an edge that will hold the turn perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised how quick they are in making short linked turns and how stable they are at speed. They were not ideal in skiing heavy crud (broken heavy powder) but I suspect they would be okay in light, powder. I would definitely buy this ski again because in performs so exceptionaly on on piste conditions. Will probably buy some fats for crude and off piste conditions. However, on the pack, on hard ice, and in bumps, these things are a pleasure to ski and give you a lot of confidence to attack and ski fast.

I'm 6' and 210 lbs. Demoed this ski in a 180 last weekend and found it to be a lot of work. Thinking about buying it in a 175 or even a 170 and am curious if anyone else has dropped down in length to accommodate the beefiness of this ski.

..it's a metal sheet ski...don't ski it down...175 and up makes it work. Your weight is what the sheet will absorb when you put some flex into it. "ski heavy" and it will carve even better at slower speed. Anything less than a 175 cm and I'll bet every turn will feel like they are washing out...tip and tail.

Im curious as well. 6 foot 175lb here. Initial reaction was to go 180cm , but for East Coast, groomers, might run out of mountain quickly.

Best Ski for Good Skiers

By:
September 17, 2009

I spent a lot of time demoing skis last season and the Classic 80 was a huge surprise for me. I used to think of Rossignol as a brand that made soft skis that didn't handle at higher speeds or in choppy conditions. This ski proved me wrong. It skis like a world cup GS ski on groom but it's wide enough to ski choppy, day old snow in Vail's Back Bowls all day. It blows away everything else I tried.

Hey! I think that you would be ok on this ski. If you are an aggressive female skier you'll be able to appreciate what this ski has to offer. The only downsides I see is that you're have a smaller build so arcing this ski might be a little difficult depending on the length you get. Just know that if you go for this its going to have you on your toes. But if you're up to a challenge go for it!

great carver

these skis are great for ripping some gs turns on a groomer at a resort near you. my fifty five year old dad even took em for a spin and loved laying down some speedy arcs. the shovel is an improvement over a race ski because it lets you float and bust the mank a little better. great ski!
