Resort riding is for suckers.

Skyrocketing season pass costs, long liftlines, and mad-dashes for powder are just a few reasons to skip the resorts this season for the solitude and deep powder of the backcountry. The vehicle to take you to deeper, untouched places? You guessed it, the Rome Whiteroom Splitboard. This directional splitboard has a set-back stance and Powder S-Camber profile, both of which help you effortlessly glide over the deepest snow without bogging down. Delivering camber through its mid-section, the Whiteroom's Powder S-Camber feels snappy under your back foot, helping you drive turns and slash windlips with the precise power of camber. After the board's mid-section, there's substantial rocker that continues all the way to the nose for maximum floatation, ensuring that your nose planes over anything in its path—including untracked powder, bumps, and choppy snow.

Designed with Rome's AirPop Core Matrix, the Whiteroom's core has poplar for maximum strength and pop, which is blended with five zones of ultra-low-density wood for a lightweight feel that conserves energy on long up-hill tours. StraightTriax 30 laminates make for a responsive feel when you're carving and gunning it down the mountain, yet these laminates still allow for enough torsional flex to bank turns between trees and make quick movements.

Infusing spring-loaded pop, the board's HotRods-Carbon Double Barrel are milled into the core, helping you transfer power to your effective edge when you're slashing and railing turns. Additionally, Rome's provided a SinterSpeed Base for fast glide over variable snow conditions, as well as added resistance to scratches and dings from buried debris, such as rocks, stumps, and branches. Note that the Whiteroom comes with industry-leading Karakoram clips that remove slop along the seam, helping to eliminate tip and tail chatter at high speeds

Fun Board!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very fun board. This thing feels like my resort board which makes the backcountry that much more fun. This thing tours like a champ, looks awesome, and doesn't hurt the wallet too much.
Rome really looked at the details on this thing. Usually with the less expensive boards they cut back on the little things. I was really excited when I noticed these came with Karakoram clips instead of the normal hooks. The karakoram clips really pull your board together for a solid feel under your feet.

Fun Board, Good Price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This isnt the stiffest board out there, but it is a nimble playful board. The shape gives great float in powder and works well for the less ideal snow too.

This board is also fairly light, coupled with a good amount of camber it tours very well.

I haven't had it on the steepest terrain yet, but I'm sure I'll be confident dropping in with this board.

Great All Arounder

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this up a week ago and have hit about every type of conditions in that time. I've rode the Hallway, it was icy. I rode some left over Pow stashes on Raymond. I rode some chalky chutes in Upper Days and I even rode some slush coming down the south facing slopes back into LCC. I can confidently say, it's a fun board and it really can ride whatever. The S Rocker really allows you to have a good time when you want but rip it when needed. I feel confident dropping cliffs, pinning straight lines and even searching out tight trees. My First day out on it I rode some North facing tight pines in LCC and I was amazed with how much I loved it. I pushed it through openings that were scraping my pack. Uphill travel is good because of the set back camber and firm flex. I have zero complaints about the board. It comes with Karakoram clips.... very nice.

Powerful and fun shape

I finally got around to putting together my split set up last spring and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. I paired the Rome Whiteroom with the Sparks Magneto bindings and couldn't be happier. The Whiteroom felt effortless right away. Having never ridden a split board before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the Whiteroom was incredibly fun to ride. The Powder S profile of the board handled insanely well on spring snow and I can only imagine it in powder. The board was very powerful and poppy, yet very nimble and fun at the same time. If you are looking for an all mountain splitboard....I think you've found it.
