Boneless Snowboard

There's no denying the huge influence that skateboarding has had on snowboarding. Rather than fighting it, Rome decided to build a snowboard with the same construction techniques as an actual skateboard. The Rome Boneless Snowboard is built like a skateboard to ride like a skateboard. Designed for fun, playful jibbing, the Boneless eases the transition from summer skatepark to winter terrain park.

The folks at Rome laid up the Boneless with 4-ply poplar. More importantly, though, they laid it up horizontally instead of vertically. This gives the Boneless a flexible, park-friendly feel. You'll want to bolt a pair of trucks to the base. It then added fiberglass Hot Rods at the tip and tail to stiffen them up a bit while leaving the soft flex between the bindings for added pop with a playful feel. Rome also added two additional mid-board contact points between offset sidecuts for added high-speed edge control or to make the board feel shorter and more playful at low speed.

The Boneless uses Rome's 3D concave No-Hang-Ups rocker-like profile. The board is flat underfoot and between the bindings. The nose and tail are spoon-shaped to ensure zero edges caught—so spin to your heart's content. The base is Rome's extruded Impact base, which provides durability and makes repairs easy. The StraightBiax laminate optimizes the board's smooth flex for a playful feel. Finally, Rome added Butterout Zones, which are elongated, mellow edge curves for a forgiving ride and better control on rails.
