Who says plenty o’ padding means rocking a heavy, sluggish binding? The Rome 390 Snowboard Binding features 3-Piece InBase Padding and gel-padded ankle straps for cliff-dropping cushiness, while Sub Base padding eats up chatter on the hardpack. The 390 Binding's glass-filled nylon baseplate amps up edge-to-edge response during your all-mountain shralpathons, and Rome's UnderWrap heel cup hugs the back of the heel and connects to a toe ramp for increased control and easy toe-edging during tight traverses. Lightweight and super-adjustable, the cored 390 highbacks offer custom support that won’t hold you back or weigh you down.

Bottom Line: Get the padding without the fat.

Good bindings, but quality is fading

By:

This is my third pair of Rome bindings, second pair of 390's. I had 390's from a couple of years back, and also Targas from a couple of years back. The Targas are still bomber, the older 390's have been retired after ~120 days. They were still ridable, but for safety reasons, I decided sending them to the big mountain in the sky was a good idea.

On to the new ones. Out of the box, I had to trim one of the "nubs" on the foam pad because it was not properly installed into the base plate. The second problem was with one of the assembly's for high-back rotation. It was already stripped when I unscrewed it to rotate the high-back, so the screw wouldn't stay in place after re-assembly. This part was replaced by Rome in a couple of weeks.

They are still very very good bindings, but Rome needs to step up on their quality control before things get worse, and get on it to fix these issues that are starting to crop up.

I've got 20-25 days on them now, and they have performed flawlessly so far but I'll be keeping a close eye on what happens with the quality of going forward before buying another pair.

I've got them on a Rome Postermania right now, and this is a great combo in the park and when just playing around.

390's Rock!

By:

I have a set of last years and reviewed them...I bought a new set this year and they do not disappoint again. The straps are super comfy, ratchets work great, endlessly adjustable etc... My only and I mean only gripe is the lean adjuster on the high back. If not touched it can get pretty hard to loosen and adjust sometimes needing "tool" assistance. The other day one of my Union Force base-plate washer snapped and I needed a spare. Guess what, ROME is nice enough to include an extra with the 390's and I used it. Thanks Rome. If you are considering the 390 it is a sweet binding. If you are considering it or the Union Force get the 390's!!!!

Faulty out the box.

By:

These looked great when I pulled them out the box, but after fitting them to my new board they show poor construction/manufacturing and an uneven finish.

Firstly the highback screws sit loose, even when tightened!

The difference in the binding frame manufacturing meant that one highback sat so tight in the frame the left squeaked like hell....it was like an old rocking chair sound!..... and was sitting so tight in the heel cup I Could barely get the screws out to adjust....I nearly chewed them up trying to adjust them.

The the right highback was much looser the worrying thing is that the plastic outer fitting and screw moved when moving the highback up and down again and again....not good!

My 4 year old drake bindings are still more solid and do not move about when fully tightened...what are Rome doing with this dodgy screw system!

Whoever put these together in the Chinese factory had a bad day on this line run.

Very adjustable and look cool, instructions somewhat difficult to read in tiny tiny diagrams.

Made in China and it shows....poor stuff Rome.

Great Bindings

By: Backcountry.com Employee

These really are great bindings. I have the Limited Edition neon color ones, that look way sick on an Artifact board. I am not a great snowboarder, in fact, I am a skier. But I am a somewhat intermediate level snowboarder. These bindings work great for me, they also work great for a beginner, and with a medium flex I am sure they work great for most advanced level park riders as well. They are easy to put on and easy to take off, and they never have released on me.
