ive always been a Thule guy myself but times are tough and i simply cant afford the latest and greatest Thule has to offer. I took a leap of faith and tried this rack out and have been in love with it. Easy install, comes with locks, and gets gear from point A to point B. save a few bills help the smaller rack brand and get a great product!
Best Bang for your Buck Budget Ski Rack
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
in my opinion this is the most affordable rack with good quality. I have the small version of this rack installed on a 2001 4runner with the factory cross bars. It was a breeze installing and only took me 10 minutes in the dark. The small version clamped down on more than I was expecting: a pair of Line Profit 100s, pair of K2 Wayback 88s, and 2 split boards (stacked on top of each other).
The cable attachement system made me a bit skeptical at first but I clamped them down and they haven't moved a bit.
This rack did indeed come with lock cores installed so no need to fiddle with them. I love how the buttons to open the racks push up so they are great on an SUV. You just give them a little smack and they pop right open. Super easy to use with gloves.
Overall, I'd buy this rack again and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great budget rack. I like it so much that I may upgrade to the larger version for more room.
Great Affordable Rack

This rack is quite a bit more affordable than the options from Thule and Yakima. I installed the RockyMounts Lift Op Ski rack with ease on a Subaru Crosstrek with factory bars. I have the small version and it holds a Snowboard and pair of Rossignol Soul 7s without much more room. I think it would probably accommodate 3 pairs of fat skis. Two snowboards may be tight.
The only concern I have is the cables used on the attachment for the bars potentially stretching. Other than that this rack does the job perfectly and for a reasonable price.
One thing to note, these did come with lock cores installed!
