In collaboration with Hex's stylish brand of carrying accessories and functional daypacks, the Roark Mule Backpack is your partner in crime for vagabonding across Canada's craggy coasts and Baja's balmy beaches. Water-resistant PV-coated cotton keeps outside moisture from ruining the pack's inner contents. Its top-stuff design features a convenient side-zip access for easy retrieval of items, without having to disturb all of the pack's inner contents. Super-comfy ergonomic shoulder straps, the adjustable sternum strap, and compression buckles help to bolster heavy loads.
The large main compartment easily holds enough stuff for far-flung travel and weekend treks into the wilderness. An interior organizer harmoniously stores all of your smaller items, while side-zippered pockets make for a great resting place for daily hygienic items, snacks, maps, and other traveling accessories. Plus, there's even a back-access laptop/tablet sleeve that holds up to a 15-inch Macbook Pro, allowing for quick retrieval when you're constantly on-the-move.

I got this bag for my son who is a chef.. And it has pockets for everything!! Felt lined side pocket for tablets/laptops.. Top pocket that's so easy to get to.. Light weight and very durable...Great bag!!!
The " Mule" does the dirty work. The PV coated cotton pack is built for a 5 day trek and its top-stuff design is complimented
by a side entrance. Its plush compartments and dry storage make it a bag suited for the street or trail.
Roark Revival Mule
The Matterhorn Saga
Journey to Switzerland, climb the most famous mountain, and get back home again within a week. What's the right bag for the venture? The Roark Mule. Lot of great things in this bag. You can load it up with supplies from the top, yet a long vertical zipper makes it easy to access what you need without dumping everything out. Plenty of obscure pockets for hiding devices/passports/tickets/important stuff when you're wandering in a strange land and don't want to be fleeced of necessary supplies. I was also pleased to find that the bag fits quite nicely in an overhead storage bin on the plane, and no one tried to tell me it was too big--so I'll venture a guess that it's within regulation. Hell of a bag. Nice job Roark. Read the full story here- http://www.backcountry.com/explore/the-matterhorn-sweepstakes-saga
My Go To Travel Bag
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Thank you to Backcountry.com and Roark Revival for hand selecting me to review this piece of gear for the benefit of the Backcountry.com community.
I must say that I this has become my go to bag for weekend travel. This bag hold everything I need from my laptop, toiletries, clothes, you name it.
Since receiving this bag months ago I have used it for all my trips that I have went on. It makes everything super convenient by have all that you need in one bag. The bag is a top loading bag that just seems to swallow my clothes. There is a zippered pocket in the brain of the bag that has a port for your headphone cables. There is also a long front zip entry into the main compartment. There is a decent size side pocket as well as a side pocket that is lined and has a water resistant zip that is great for your liquids.
The back panel has a fleece lined zippered pocket that fits my MacBook as well as a small fleece lines zip pocket for your valuables.
My one complaint on the bag is the zipper into the main pocket, brain, and the one side pocket. They do not seem to be the best. I wish they would have went with a nice big YKK zip like Topo Designs. Having said that I have had no issues with the zips, or anything with the bag.
If you are looking for an alternative to a duffle, or a bag that can carry your clothes and laptop then this is it!
