X-Ride 20 Disc Complete Cyclocross Bike - 2015

When your "off-season" means taking as many hand-ups as possible while still finishing upright, Ridley’s X-Ride 20 Disc Complete Cyclocross Bike takes the cake, the beer, and even a few dollar bills.

While the X-Fire and the X-Night are constructed from carbon fiber, Ridley chose 7005-series aluminum with triple-butted joints for the X-Ride. The triple-butting means that the tubing is able to have thicker walls at the joints but thinner walls in the middle — a design that is lightweight but strong enough to handle well in the thick of it. The tubing has been given a slightly pinched shape on the downtube. This detail increases stiffness and created larger junctures at the head and down tubes, which increases the strength of the frame even more. The geometry features a relaxed head tube and a short wheelbase for optimal handling in tight corners. Additionally, the bottom bracket is set in higher for clearance.

Ridley mates a 4ZA Oryx Cyclocross fork to the X-Ride frame. The 24-ton carbon fiber fork has a tapered 1-1/8 x 1-1/2inch steerer tube. The components are both SRAM Force and Rival, placing the slightly lighter Force at the front. To keep up with its big brothers, it is 11-Speed with 46/36 front chainrings affixed to an FSA crankset and a rear 11-28 tooth cassette. The alloy wheels roll on 33mm Clement tires, and the entire cockpit features Ridley's very own 4ZA components.
