Unless you're beating your shins against any and every corner, or twisting the coiler with a monkey wrench, it'll hold fine. Bring it into a board shop to service it.

Are the boots true to fit the size or should I size up or down? I am a 7.5 regular sneaker.

Usually you will downsize 1 measurement..So if you wear a street shoe of 10.5, then your riding boot should be 9.5. Also, socks and width of your feet should be considered. Enjoy!
