My Go-To 5wt

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This rod never leaves the back of my trunk. You never know when you might see some water you need to fish.

This rod really can do it all from delicately places drys to controlling nymph rigs to my personal favorite, throwing larger streamers for big hungry trout.

Pair all that with Redingtons warranty and you cant go wrong with the Torrent!

Redington Torrent 6 weight/9ft Rod

Small mouth bass caught on the Holston River in East Tennessee. I have the Hardy Ultralite DD 6000 riding on the rod. Both the rod and reel are perfect for the fishing around TN. Looks sweet and handles great.

Nice all-around rod - 5 wt

The torrent is a really nice rod that is built well, fishes well, comes with redington's warranty... and wont break the bank. This rod fishes a lot like a sage vxp in the same weight, but is hundreds of dollars less expensive. It is a powerful fast action rod, so presenting tiny dry flies delicately is not always the easiest. For throwing bigger bugs(16's and down), nymph rigs, streamers, etc... this rod is great. If you are looking for one rod to take you from tiny creeks to big western rivers... the torrent is a great choice.

"Torrent: Noun

A strong and fast-moving stream of water or other liquid.

A sudden, violent, and copious outpouring of (something, typically words or feelings)"

Sounds about right, outpouring of happiness when you land a big one! This is my tool of choice for my fishing endeavors. I have fished my whole life but only recently become passionate about the sport of fly fishing. This rod will most likely hold a place in my heart as the first of my quiver in the future. It casts the smallest fly, to a streamer beautifully. It throws a bounce rig well and really excels with nymphing. I love throwing dries and it pairs with a larger caddis or soft hackle. Overall, I love this thing and am so happy to have it as my first top of the line rod. I use this rod with the:

and they compliment each other well. I recommend this to anyone who wants versatility and a well balanced rod to provide many fun days of getting out there and wetting a line.

Purchased the 5 weight/Handle A. 9ft for catching Utah browns! Easy to setup and comes with the rod tube and soft interior material case
