Description

That's the third time this month you've been shown up by that fat-arse rainbow.

Dang, you totally got hosed by that fish and almost went into the drink. Good thing you had on the Redington Men's Palix River Wader, otherwise you would have been a shivering mess for the rest of the day. Durable, waterproof nylon fabric with an additional DWR (durable water repellent) coating seals out the wet so you stay comfy and dry throughout your fishing endeavors.
  • Breathable fabric allows vapor from sweat to pass through while blocking out the wet
  • Reinforced 6-layer lower leg for durability when you're trudging through the brush
  • A double-layer knee comes in handy when you're on your knees trying to get the hook out of the fish's mouth
  • Opposing buckles allow for easy conversion to a waist height
  • High-density neoprene booties offer protection from the cold and wet
  • Chest pocket with drain holes and a flip-out pocket stashes your dry shake, small fly box, and other small essentials
  • Wading belt helps keep you grounded
  • Integrated gravel-guards block out pebbles and small rocks
  • Fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets come in super-handy on chilly mornings

A great first pair of waders.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm just getting into fly-fishing and didn't want to spend a ton on a pair of waders. I bought these and have used them just about every day this summer without a problem. They fit well and are comfortable, and I really like have the multiple pockets. I don't even wear a vest - just throw my fly box and tippet into the front pocket and head out.

Affordable fun

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I recently purchased a pair of these waders. So far I have only used them a few times but I have no complaints so far. For the price these might just be some of the best low budget waders you can get. They don't seem too hot, however I have not used them in temperatures above 85 degrees. They seem light enough to be comfortable on hotter days, however I typically am fishing in light weight pants and chacos when it gets really hot.
The materials feel higher quality than I would have expected from a pair of waders this affordable. I love the having the stash pockets and the hand warmer pockets when temps drop.
If you tend to bushwack a lot to get to your favorite holes or if you fish as often as you can I would recommend getting a more expensive wader. The more expensive waders do seem to have better seams and are typically made of more durable materials. However these waders work exceptionally well for the angler who might only hit the river 50 days a season.
I am 5'10" with a size 9.5 shoe. The medium fits perfectly and offers a little room for layering without being baggy or loose fitting.

Ok, but not for serious anglers

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I fish over 100 days a year in the PNW for salmon, trout and steelhead. Since our year-round season varies from hot summer evenings on the trout streams to stormy and snowy winter mornings on big steelhead rivers, good all -around breathable waders are essential.

I'm usually a huge fan of Redington products. Unfortunately after putting in a year with these waders I'm wishing I'd sprung for something higher end.

I would have expected and been fine with a few puncture holes from bushwacking by now, but what keeps failing and leaking on me are the seams where the neoprene booties meet the legs. A good coat of sealant fixes it for a few weeks, but then they start leaking again.

If you fish a few times a summer on sunny trout streams, these should work fine for you.

If you fish every chance you get in conditions where a leak can ruin your day or waste hundreds of miles of driving, spend a little extra on something better.

Lastly, I'm 6'1" 175 and the medium long fits great.

Keep dry out there

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

These waders are the goods, great value for an inexpensive pair of waders, I went with the XXL based off of the manufacturers size chart estimate for the feet, but found that the feet were too large, I am 6'6 and wear a size 14 shoe so the XXL must be for Basketball players or the like, I did find that the torso was also very roomy, but I wore my backpack under the waders in case of any falls and they worked great. If you are tall and in good shape go with the XL rather then the XXL unless your sporting gigantic feet or a belly, would definitely recommend

LUH-Jit

My first impression after receiving these was, "Man, these are some slick lookin waders." I had a bit of buyers remorse initially after I saw Redington's manufacture warranty was only a year, but was reminded the fact that if anything should happen to these bad boys (water leaks, etc) at any point in time Backcountry will replace them. And I love that. Keeps me coming back.

The fit and finish of this product is quality. The material is excellent and they provide all of the necessary features a wader should. Can't wait to get these in the river and slay some trout. There is also a high chance of getting some hot chicks numbers while sporting these beauties in the river. Lookin forward to that as well. May just wear them downtown. I'll give an update on how these hold up and tweak this review.

Good and water-tight

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I stood out in the cold for an entire day in waist deep water, and I can honestly say that I never got wet, and never got cold. Even the neoprene booties were water tight in non-waterproof boots. Disadvantage, however, is that there is not enough pockets. The few that there are are easily accessible, but the waders could definitely use more. Also, as a taller individual, I found the maneuverability for bending over and bringing knees up high for a big step is not necessarily the most forgiving.

Not Bad / Amazing Price

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I dont see how you could go wrong with these waders. Most of the summer Im wet wading around not using waders at all, but when the cool weather hits, these things rock. They arent the most breathable, but as stated before, i wet wade most of the summer and really only wear these when I have to. They keep me dry, have ample storage and fit well. Im 5'8'' 165 and the medium is perfect. (size 10 foot)

Actually quite good.

These are good waders! They are comfortable, the suspenders are very clever with the opposing buckles and they breath really well. All for a great price.
Honestly the only thing keeping them from a 5 star rating is the color. I wish they were darker and not so khaki.

Responded on

so, an update to this one. About a year and a half in and these baby's are leaking something horrible. There's a worn spot on the heal that resulted in a hole on the left foot and when I'm in up to my waist the crotch leaks as well. (shrinkage like whoa).
So maybe get these until you can afford something better, or just save your pennies.

Great quality at the right price

I bought the Redington Palix River Wader expecting them to be a bit janky due to the low price point, but I'm new to the sport and figured they would suffice for now. They are actually really nice - to my surprise. Given my level of experience, I'll just comment on fit. I'm 5'11" and 180 lbs. I usually wear a 33x30 jean. The mediums were right for me, though I was at the very upper end of medium in order to maintain mobility. If you have an inseam any larger than 30", go for the large. I wear an 11 shoe and there was no issues with the booties, despite the sizing chart saying I needed a larger size.

just what i needed

i really like these waders. they don't have a ton of flash but they're really nice and durable and quite comfortable.

the fit on them is just right for me. i'm about 6'2" and 170 lbs and the size large fits me just perfect.

Good wader, Great price!

I bought these for my 12 year old son and like any little boy he has put a beating on them. He has fished them through winter and spring now and I couldn't be happier with their durability. Redington has done a great job at putting out a high quality wader for a great price!
