Red Trace Helmet - 09/10 - 2009 BCS

This helmet was for my son. I don't know about your kids - but my kids has a huge melon and had to get an XL adult helmet. Unfortunetly the helmets are all designed for people with more elongated skulls - my kids has more wider shape - so the front and back had some space. But they do have pads you can stick on to help with that but it still wasn't a perfect fit - but we have the same issue with bike helmets - so I'll just blame my husband who passed along his big head to my son. He wore this for both ski and snowboarding lessons and he didn't have any complaints.

The first day wearing my new cool looking Red Trace Helmet was interesting. Through a series of events on the ski slope, I wound up falling off a 20 foot bank onto an ice cat track. I landed on my head and my hand. I badly broke my wrist but no injury to my head! That was the first time I have ever wore a helmet! Thanks for the memories ;).

Picked this up from evogear.. sizing was perfect. It doesn't appear huge to me despite the fact I wear a 7 3/4 size hat (XL Helmet). Was comfortable wearing this all day for my last ride of the season. It worked well with my Oakley OTG goggles, and was a good platform to mount my friend's Vholdr camera while filming him. Gave me a little more confidence to pick up speed on the double black, and to experiment a bit more in the terrain park.

The helmet is pretty, well-padded, and fit well. The only problem was that the clip that holds the goggles on the helmet is flimsy. The strap on the goggles does not stay in the clip because the clip doesn't have a snap to hold it shut. On the first day of wearing the helmet, the clip completely broke off when I tried to get the goggle strap to stay in. Now the goggles won't stay in place around the helmet. I returned it for a full refund. :-(

I bought this helmet for my 8 year old son to wear for all four seasons. The first weekend he wore it, he used it snowboarding; took the pads out and used it at the skatepark...gotta love the Utah weather! It has been personalized with every kind of sticker an 8 year old boy would want. What I like best about this helmet as a mom, is that it's so cool there's never a fight to get him to wear it!
