Every landing isn’t going to be an afterbang and if you went big it could cause a deadly charlie horse. The Red Men’s Total Impact Short uses d3o impact material to protect your hips, legs, and tailbone from mistakes. The ergonomic, breathable padding won’t suffocate you and reproduce the Everglades in your pants and the moisture wicking material holding these pads together will kick out sweat too. An elastic waist makes these extra comfortable and loop pulls on both sides make taking them off and putting them on less complicated.

Bottom Line: Charlie horses may still be encountered but the bite won’t be nearly as severe.

Yes there is. It is E.V.A foam for the tail bone and surrounding areas.

Yes. It says so in the description and the tech specs. There is padding for the tailbone. Also confirmed on Burton's website:

Not bad. I'm sending these back because I prefer another option I picked up (the POC VPD Hip Shorts) but these are solid. The coverage zones are large, the placement is good, and the fit is comfortable but not so loose that things start to slip.

The one thing that put the POC shorts over them is the fact that because of the placement of the hip pads on these, they kind of bunch up at the waist, especially under pants. The POC shorts have 2 separate pieces at each waist with a small break in between, so they articulate better. It's a nitpicky detail and otherwise I would have no problem rocking these.

how much coverage did these shorts have on the backside? Was it just tailbone protection? How about the POV ones?
