Everybody needs a little help sometimes and when you spend your days jibbing or charging the steeps you need it more than others. The Red Avid Helmet makes sure your head stays in one piece when mistakes are made. Unison technology gets the fit system, helmet shape, and mechanics singing in a lightweight, low-bulk harmony. Add Finetuning to that mix and you get to orchestrate how that harmony works for you by adjusting warmth and fit with removable and interchangeable padding. Red’s Goggle gasket prevents the dreaded gaper gap while Airvanced ventilation gives you the power to control the airflow.

Bottom Line: Protection for park runs, tree attacks, and all-terrain endeavors.

Durable, Light Helmet

If this helmet didn't have a chinstrap, you could easily mistake it for a lightweight beanie. The Red Avid helmet is probably the lightest I've used. While sacrificing some durability, it is very useful for those days when you just feel like hitting the kinks without busting your brains open, and not having to worry about a bulky helmet slowing you down. I wear this helmet over a beanie, so I took the velcro adhesives off, although with the pads on this helmet is very comfortable and supportive. I am just one of those people who sacrifice comfort for warmth. Overall, you will not be disappointed with the Avid, it is a great buy for any experience level.

Good Basic Helmet

I bought this for my husband. He learned to ski 3 years ago so that he could ski with our 2 boys. We live 15 minutes from a ski hill, so even though we aren't/weren't skiers, most kids here ski, and we want our kids to be able to ski with there friends. My husband taught himself. So, he is not the best skier, nor is he really "into" skiing, like some men. Nevertheless, I thought he should have a helmet. This one seemed good - sturdy, and not too expensive. He has worn it several times and says it is, "fine." That's the best I usually get from him, he never uses words like "great," "terrific," or "wonderful." So I'd say this helmet does its job. It came with extra pads that can be placed inside the helmet to adjust the fit, but he wears a fleece skull cap under it for warmth and has had no issues with fit.

RED AVID HELMET

I got it in a small, which is a good size for me. I have a small head. I think an XS might have been perfect but they did not have one nor do I know if they make one. I took all the inside liners out and I used a beanie that I made on my knitting loom. This allows me to wear my goggles under my helmet...style points. This helmet is SUPER light weight! Everyone comments when they pick it up at how light it is. It is a big bulkier in size than I am used to but I am learning to love it. I have taken a few head falls in the park and this has not let me down. It is rated for multiple big falls...which note that helmets will only protect you to a certain degree at high speed hits. When I had the ear pads in it there is so much padding that I couldn't hear what my friends were saying and I am a snowboard coach so I need to be able to hear, hence taking them out and doing a beanie. Overall this helmet is great, I put a pom pom on it to give it some extra flair. I would say buy this helmet, it will help save your noggin and brain.

Red Avid Helmet

I bought this helmet to go snowboarding out in Colorado. I used it for a solid week and can say that it served me well. The padding on the inside keeps your head plenty warm without having to wear a beanie or anything, and the vents won't let you get overheated. Everything stays at a good temperature. Also, there is a zipper on the ears that allows you to put headphones into the helmet itself. I don't have the Skullcandy kind that are made to go into them, so instead I put the standard iPod headphones in it and it worked perfectly. I didn't have to worry about losing the headphones or them getting wet the entire time. The helmet did seem to sit kind of high on my head at times, but it wasn't too big of a deal. They give you an attachable piece to eliminate the gap. Aside from that, it's super comfortable, extremely light, and a nice piece of equipment.
