    Aeffectively excellent.

Most people aren't into switching pedals every time they go for a ride anyway, but the RaceFace Aeffect Pedals make such chopping and changing a thing of the past. With a thin but rugged aluminum body, bombproof chromoly steel axle, and 20 hex-headed traction pins per pedal, they can pull duty on XC, trail, enduro, and DH bikes without breaking, weighing you down, or letting you slip. A shorter spindle helps keep the Aeffects' weight low, while hidden grease ports let you perform maintenance without having to break out the pedal wrench.

    Perfect platform

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These pedals are low-profile to help prevent pedal strikes. They are fairly lightweight for the price and I find the grip to be really strong on my 5-10s. Everyone is switching over from clipless these days it seems and these are a great option.

    Good Pedal, Good Price

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These seem like perfectly good pedals. For the price, I think theyre just right, though I was hoping for something a little lower profile. I havent put a ton of miles on them, but I have certainly smashed a few rocks and they have held up just fine. Time will tell whether these are good pedals or great pedals.

    Great Flats

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Sometimes I feel like I blinked and the price of platform pedals quadrupled for no reason... What used to just be a cheap option for those not serious enough to ride clipless has now become its own market of super fancy, marked up products. But like all bike stuff... with account-gouging markups comes super rad new toys. I chose these pedals because they were relatively reasonably priced, but seemed to keep up with the other high end flats as far as weight, design, materials, etc.

They are pretty awesome. Great shape that actually makes sense to maximize coverage on your foot, and loads of grip. Can't comment on longevity yet, but they seem well built.

    You are welcome Dad

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I honestly think my dad loves these more then he loves his kids.. well maybe. The best part of these is the amount of grip you are going to get against your shoes. No slipping over here.

These are a pretty "tight" look as well. The color is a perfect matte black. If you're dad love to get a little crazy on his bike they will be a hit!

    You are welcome Dad

    My buddy loves em

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got these for a friend who just started biking and he loves the color option and durability. He has had alot of pedal strikes and not only do his feet stay on the pedals but the pedal can handle some abuse. A great go-to platform pedal with replaceable spikes as they get worn out.

Beauty meets performance - Top quality!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Race Face has produced a reliable, smooth spinning option with plenty of grip and a reasonable weight with the Aeffect Pedals. Awesome pedals at a great price!!!

    For those who rip

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pedal is one of my favorites from Race Face. Is lower priced than the Atlas and offers up just as good a grip. I would recommend this to riders just joining the mountain bike ranks, to those who like to rip it up without clipless. Teeth are replaceable once they wear out. Of course, these come in all the colors that race face offers, so spice up your whip and get out there.

I have that Aeffect on people

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I wanted a strong pedal with plenty of grip, one of my first choices was the Race Face Aeffect Pedal. I have been a fan of Race Face products for a while and when I was finally able to try some of their pedals I knew I had found my new platform.

One thing that I really like about these pedals that is different from other pedals is that they don't have a huge platform. While that might sound weird, I don't have a large foot and so I don't like having pedals that seem to swallow my shoes. These fit perfect for my shoes and have pins that grip in all the right places. Just don't let the pedal hit you in the leg because they will also grip your skin too. If you want a solid pedal but don't need a ton of grip, the pedals also come with washers so you can actually change the height of the pins and make them a little less deadly.

Not that it was a problem for me, but these pedals do NOT have the ability to be put on with a pedal wrench, you will have to use an allen key. Once again, not a huge problem, but if all you have is a pedal wrench it is worth buying some keys to be able to take these pedals on and off.

I liked these pedals so much that I have two sets of them right now. One set is on my cross/touring bike (Kona Rove) and I just put a set on my Surly Instigator build. These things are tough, rugged, light, and don't break the bank.

Would definitely recommend to anyone and I will be buying them again in the future.

What size allen key is needed to install/remove these pedals?
