Shoulder-season expeditions don't always require a full-length mountaineering gaiter to protect your boot from the elements. Rab built its Latok Mid Gaiter with the same eVent waterproof breathable membrane and Cordura reinforcements as its longer gaiters but with a lower height for greater comfort when you only need a small amount of coverage.

  • Three-layer eVent fabric combines waterproof technology and industry-leading breathability to keep you dry and comfortable in extreme weather conditions—guaranteed
  • 3-Layer stretch WaterGate panel provides improved fit with both oversize plastic boots and leather hikers
  • Burly Cordura ankle reinforcements protect against sharp crampons and ski edges
  • Reflective detailing helps keep you visible when you're in the storm's belly

GREAT gaiters

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Rab wins on these - perfect for trail running or snowshoe running in snow. I usually wear them over tights and I come home warm and dry. Personally, I pair these up with the Saucony Xodus (GoreTex runners) for the perfect combo. One note is that the plastic attachment that hooks into the gaiter hook on the shoes is a tad too wide/large for most shoes. I shaved it down with a knife for a better fit. Honestly, perfect winter gaiters. Good work, Rab.

Does the material these are made from give any defence from snakes?

Hey Rod,

For all the same reasons previously mentioned on the other gaiters you inquired about I would not suggest these as your first line of defense against snakebites. Again, these are better than nothing but there are simply much better designs out there and gaiters made specifically for defense against snakes while the gaiters we carry are more for mountaineering.

What is the height of this gaiter?
What difference in size between medium and large (not the height )

be careful: low, mid, and tall refer to the height of the gaiter. Small, medium, and large refer to the width and how well it will fit around your calf.
Generally if you hike year round, small will not work. Runners prefer small. The tall gaiters are preferred by people in snow, from snow shoers to cross country to hiking.
