Dare Old Man Winter.

Rab used all of its weather-fighting technology to turn the Men's Latok Alpine Pant into a waist-down suit of impenetrable weather armor. You won't find a bunch of gimmicks on the Latok. In fact, you won't even find pockets on the Latok, because they can compromised the pant's waterproofing. Rab made the Latok with fully waterproof breathable eVent laminated to a tough nylon shell, fully taped seams, and waterproof zippers throughout to keep you dry and comfortable all day from the inside out.

  • 3L eVent is one of the most breathable waterproof laminates in the industry
  • Ultra-tough nylon construction will stand up to years of abuse
  • Fully taped seams eliminate weak spots
  • Regular fit for easy layering and comfort
  • Articulated knees for natural movement and feel
  • 3/4-length waterproof side zips allow you to dump heat quickly and allow for easy entry and exit
  • Hem drawcord makes fit adjustments quick
  • Heavier-weight eVent fabric on knees for greater durability
  • Rain drains keep water from pooling

Alpine Latok

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You bought it to be a minimalist, lightweight, breathable and ventable climbing shell, and that's exactly what it is. Expectations met.

RAB Latok

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great Pants - Super durable - help up to rock, ice, and crampons. Great fit for a slim build; easy to put on over boots.

Cons: Zippers were a bit of a pain to zip up and down after a long trek through some dusty scree. I think that the dust got into the tracks when I had them partially unzipped to vent. Otherwise - I love these pants.

Champion lightweight alpine pant

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you're looking for lightweight, no frills three-layer pant, this is the pant you want. Bought for hiking, light mountaineering, backcountry skiing. 1 pound. No goofy gaiters, no suspendies. 3/4 length zippers that you can't bust. No frills also means no pockets, though, so you have to be man enough to stash your iPhone elsewhere. Medium fit is perfect for me at 135 and 5'9". Did I mention its light? Compared with its little brother the rab bergen; the extra 4 ounces were worth it for me in the latok, along with a fly, instep protection, and beefier construction.
