Above treeline, where temperatures are cold and exhaustion lies just below the surface, every ounce counts. So, it's a good thing we stashed the Rab Endurance Down Mittens in our pack for instant warmth and emergency use. Packed with 650-fill down—plus synthetic Stratus insulation in key areas for better performance in damp conditions—these mittens ensure warmth in extreme environments while weighing less than 9 ounces. Pertex Endurance Pro laminates the mitts in a hydrophobic finish to protect our hands against heat-zapping moisture, and they're also reinforced in the palm and fingers for better durability and grip. Overall, Rab made these mitts for light use in harsh conditions or for emergency use when alpine climbing or winter trekking in seriously cold temperatures.

I love these mittens but wish I had sized down. They are incredibly warm. I wanted them for winter camping and night photography. It is very easy to slip my hands in. I love the straps that can secure them around your wrist or jacket so they don't blow off in the wind. They are lightweight. They are big. Big sleeping bag for your hands. Cannot open a gu gel or work the camera. So I take off the right hand when I need to do anything, then slip it on again. You could easily wear other gloves underneath but so far I haven't done that. There is a cinch strap at the end. It's cool they cover part of your arm. The gauntlet style is to keep snow out but it also works to warm your arm. Problem is the wrist area has a very light built in elastic which you cannot adjust. This means you need to order a small enough size or the mitts want to slide off your hand. I should have gone smaller just to keep them on and all positive features would have still worked. The warmth is REAL.
