Description

Lightweight bag for lightweight ascents.

Rab's proprietary Hydrophobic treatment protects the 650-fill duck down in the Ascent 700 Sleeping Bag from moisture to keep you warm through rainy trips, and the windproof Pertex Microlight shell is surprisingly durable for how light it is. The bag's semi-rectangular shape is roomier than standard mummy bags, and an angled footbox offers extra room so your feet don't feel squished. The Ascent also features an internal collar and a drawcord at the hood to seal out any cold drafts, and a zippered stash pocket that's perfect for headlamps. It comes with a full-length zipper on either the right or left side, and a compression stuff sack for backpacking and a cotton storage sack to keep the bag prime for years.

Warm Bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Has been a great bag after multiple uses, used first time in 20 degree F. and was not cold at all. I am 6'3" and bought the extra long. I fill the extra space at the bottom of my bag with a jacket to fill up the extra space. There is enough room to sleep on my side, bit of restless sleeper. Packs down small. Unfortunately I lost the compression bag early on, but took a sack from another bag that is small with cinch top. I would recommend to a friend.

Where did u get the shoulder/hip/foot circumference of 29.5/25.5/19.5 inches? Do they make sense to u?

Responded on

Hey KK,

These measurements come directly from the Rab catalog.

Responded on

Most adults have a waist size (circumference) greater than 29.5 inches. I think these are diameter (width) measurements, which makes it difficult to compare to standard sleeping bag measurements (and multiplying by Pi doesn't give reasonable dimensions either). Similar problem with Rab giving overall bag length instead of user height bag is sized for.

Rab Hydrophobic Down

In the early days, Rab Carrington built his brand around down insulation, and we still see down manufacturing as a core part of the Rab brand today.

All of our down insulated products are filled with the highest quality Hydrophobic Down, developed in conjunction with Nikwax. The hydrophobic treatment is applied at source and is seen as the next step in our progression in down manufacturing.

I love this bag! Warm, packs down, good fit, hood fits snug. I'm tall so I bought the men's and the length is great! I slept outside at about 9,000 feet and was wind/moisture resistant. Also used it at about 10,000 ft and stayed warm on cold nights - but not too warm. It's tough and has continued to hold up well! Excited to get this out on many more adventures!
