A playful river runner with creeking capabilities.

Firmly planted in Pyranha's line of river running boats, the Nano Kayak makes accessing fun features on rivers easy, and it will still handle steep creeks. Short for its category, the Nano takes on a more playful nature than Pyranha's larger river runners like the Burn Shiva. The hull features a semi-flat bottom to make spins and surfing simple, while full-length rails engage with lightening speed when you need to snap into a tight eddy. Taking a page from the design of the freestyle-specific Jed, the Nano maneuvers on a dime and softens boof landings thanks to the progressive bow-to-stern rocker. And for paddlers who prefer to lean back on big features, the stern offers ample volume to keep your riding high when the river tries to suck you in. Experienced boaters will revel in the fact that this boat is not only fun and fast but easy to portage, while aspiring creekers will find confidence in the stability and predictability of this versatile ride.

    Pyranha Nano

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Nano is a super fun boat. From running class V drops to teaching the basics, this boat has a lot to offer. Much like its counterparts the Burn and Shiva, the Nano has great primary and secondary stability thanks to its displacement hull and hard edges! The Nano surfs great, boofs amazing and has the package that makes you comfortable while doing so...the one thing I have found difficult with the Nano is creating and sustaining speed through rapids. The lack of speed while punching large holes or moving through a crux can get you worked pretty hard and a stubby bow and stern offer little chance of grabbing green water.

Hi, I am 5'10" about 175 lbs (right on the border between the medium and a large recommended weights). I am a beginner kayaker, and have been getting into class III water. Should I get a large or medium Nano?
