Pyranha created the Fusion Kayak because they know that you like both whitewater and touring but don't want to pay for a garage full of boats. One of two boats in Pyranha's river touring lineup, the Fusion is first and foremost forgiving. The hull is more stable and less sensitive to lateral movement than a traditional river runner, but it's more maneuverable than its longer brethren. A dropdown skeg system improves tracking on open water, the two-position backrest can be adjusted for either comfort or control, and the rear hatch is roomy enough to hold up to 78 liters of gear for a long day on open water. Hit the river and you'll discover the surprising maneuverability offered by the hull rocker, the foam bulkhead that keeps you floating high over river features, and the grab loops and aluminum lash point that add security not typically offered by a touring boat. For everyone from aspiring to expert paddlers, this boat offers the ideal balance between the nimble shape and safety of a river boat and the comfort and efficiency of a touring rig.

Two Kayaks in one

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Finally picked it up from the freight office today, and immediately took it out to the lake and all the excitement and anticipation I had for finally owning my own kayak was payed for in full! This boat is incredible. With the skeg down it had all the mild manners of a rec boat despite the choppy lake and the wind. It tracked as straight as any 12 footer I've ever paddled in and was very laid back. Pull the skeg up on the other hand, even though I didn't get to really use the edges you can tell that this boat wants to play with the best of them. Skeg operation was easy and distinct as well, it really does turn it into a different kayak. The seat and thigh pads hold you in tight and it was very comfortable for the entire time I was out there. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. If you can only buy one boat this jack of all trades is the one to get.
