I have been using the Pro for several years. I had them when they first came out, and like some others on here, they didn't last more than a season. Since the first time I used them, they have been changed a lot. The toe and heel have been redesigned and beefed up. I noticed the box for this year says that they are 20% stronger - using a heavier compound. I love these for the simpleness of the design - they really work.

I have been using this product a lot lately because where I live and walk my dog has been experiencing too much sun and a lack of new snow. Consequently, our favorite steep trail has developed a layer of hard ice which was making it hard to walk on. My Yaktrax Pros, which are normally totally adequate for this, were not holding as well as usual, so I thought I would give these a try. I can walk right up without slipping. The cleats dig in just enough to give me good purchase. I definitely don't do much walking on the road with them and if I forget something in the house, I am crawling on my knees to go back in, but for the trail they were great!

I bought a pair of Yaktrax Pros last winter when the trail I hike on became too slippery to hike in just boots. These things literally saved my butt. My friends would slip and slide on the descent, grabbing trees and branches to stay on their feet. I can just walk like normal - they don't slide at all.
I found myself wearing them just to walk to the mailbox because the streets where I live remain snowpacked for most of the winter. It seems like the worst falls happen when it's least expected - walking the dog, etc.
I bought the Pros because I knew I would be wearing them often and I wanted the strap over the instep. For the small difference in price, it was a no brainer.
