vspotwrote a review of Castelli Sella Rain Jacket - Women's on October 17, 2015
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: Runs small
I brought this jacket to a 4-day cycling trip in the San Juan Islands in Washington State, having been told it can get very cold and rainy there. We had beautiful weather, so I didn't really test this in very wet or windy conditions, but we did get some light mist and were riding so fast we created our own wind chill... :o) Anyway, this jacket is very protective and perfectly shaped for cycling - long drop hem, short front, long sleeves, high neck (high but soft - not irritating at all). All of this makes it look a bit silly if you are just standing around, but that's not what it's meant for. The reflective piping is *very* reflective, but there is no additional "screen printing" that I noticed except for the Castelli logo.
I was very impressed with how breathable it was - I never felt clammy; in fact, I would get much clammier wearing my Marmot Precip on a light hike than wearing this jacket. That said, it is pretty warm. The vents help, but it's not a super light jacket. nor is it super packable. All told, a lot of performance and does exactly what it says it will. Although I didn't take it into a downpour, I have no doubt that it would keep me dry and comfortable in wet conditions.
