I spent quite a long time trying to decide on a new jacket. After a lot of research, I landed on this puppy. I have only snowboarded in it five or six times, but so far I am one happy customer.
I live in the PNW, so bluebird days are hard to come by. So far I've used the jacket in high winds, fresh snow, and misty conditions, but stayed warm and dry. Compared to my old jacket that acted more like a wetsuit than a waterproof layer, the L stops water in it's tracks. Even when a nice icy layer built up from hours in a cold, misty cloud, and eventually melted, I was bone dry.
The fit is great. I like my gear a little on the baggy side, so I went with the large (5'-11" 170 lbs). The sleeves fit well over my gloves, the length comes down just past my butt, and the neck comes up to a perfect height to help you both hide from the elements and work on your goggle tan. I'm pretty sure the hood fits well over my helmet as well, although I can't say I ride with it up often.
The pow skirt has a nice elasticity to it. I don't have Volcome pants, so I can't use the zip-in feature. The good news is that the skirt also has a few little clips, so if you have loops on your pants like I do, you can secure the skirt from riding up into a bra during heavy falls.
There are three main external pockets. My old jacket had a lot more organization built into it, but I definitely like the simplicity of the L. Plus I found that the Velcro 'media pocket' inside the chest pocket works perfectly for a few cards, cash, or an RFID season pass.
I'll check back once I can give the L a more thorough beating, but so far I'm pretty psyched about it. The large is a perfect, loose fit, and the blue is mega sexy. Plus the main zipper is also a whistle - how cool is that?!
