Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
These were my first new boots in a few years. They are very light and the sizing is relatively true (if anything, they run small) but they did not work at all for me. They have minimal padding and a single tension on the cord system. The boot contact points on the sides of the ankle led to significant bone bruising (I should have replace them immediately, but stuck with them for more than a week of daily aggressive boarding hoping it was a "break in" issue which was a huge mistake). I also found the cord loosens during riding and has to be re-tightened regularly. As there is a single adjustment, you cannot control tension between the forefoot, ankle, and shin which I think contributes to the problem. I replaced with Salomon F3.0's (yes, a big jump in price) and the difference is dramatic - perfect adjustment in each zone that never moves, a much, much more comfortable boot overall, and for me a superior fit for my feet/ankles (size 12.5). I was able to board aggressively despite real bruises/inflammation that had resulted from these Burton's. My advice is if these do not feel great on the first run or two, switch them early or you can end up like I did.
