Stephen's Bio

I am officially a city slicker but I make the most of it. In my heart I want to live in Colarado, snow ski in winter, kayak in summer but I live in Chicago and don't do either.

After doing some research I bought this pack. With the 40 level rating I figured I could fit laptop and my work cloths in the pack on a daily basis. I workout before work so I need to be able to carry a full set of cloths (shirt, t-shirt, pants, socks and shoes) and work stuff (Laptop, papers). Even with the pack expanded all the way it was just too tight a fit. I could get everything on but the pack distributes the weight awkwardly......It just always felt like I was going to topple over backward. The pack when fully loaded displaces the weight up and away from the shoulders.
There is a laptop pocket and that did hold the laptop very securely. I can't complain there, but for my use the pack was just too small. The shoulder straps and belt felt a little on the cheap side. For $150 bucks you would figure it would have a higher quality system. One positive was that the waist belt was able to be stored away so you didn’t have it dangling around your waist when not in use.
Overall, not a bad backpack if you are carrying laptop and a few cloths but not the right pack if you need to carry a full set of work cloths.

Hopefully I can save you some money. I first purchased the North Face Overhaul 40 Travel Pack, great pack, only issue is that it was too small for my situation. I needed to be able to carry a full set of work cloths (shirt, t-shirt, pants, socks, and shoes) and any additional work stuff (laptop, papers....). The North Face Overhaul 40 Travel Pack just didn't cut it. I could fit all in but if was smashed in there. I workout before work so that is why the cloths are needed.

The North Face Crestone 60 Backpack is working out great. The OptiFit System does make the pack fit perfectly to your back. The layout of this pack distributes the weight evenly. Only complaint is the sleeping bag pocket zipper. The zipper is a half shaped moon and it is difficult to easily open and close the zipper. Know how most zippers are in a straight line? There is a reason. All in all a great pack, looks good, I have the Black/Charcoal color and looks like I should be out day packing but I just use it to and from train, work and home.
