Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs large
Lets start with the SIZE: The jacket does run large, but it's meant to. It's designed to go over all your other layers when you are belaying. But lets be realistic here, we're not all belaying Ice in the winter but more likely shredding untracked lines in the back country or just styling inbounds. I am 5'8" 135 pounds and the small does the job perfectly!
The cuffs are great! NO VELCRO closures but some slick stretchy fabric which slides nicely into your gloves. Just tight enough to keep the wind and snow out when needed.
POCKETS: yup there are plenty. Some might say too many but I can never have enough!
ZIPPER: Big Burly non sticking super slider. Zips from the bottom when done up so you can access your harness.
HOOD: Great design. Fits nicely over a helmet. The cinching system works well and makes the hood very manageable without a helmet. And best of all, no issue with blocked peripheral vision.
SYNTHETIC: Ok so we're all die hard down fans... those feathers are light, compressible and warm. But this synthetic stacks up with the puffy down parkas. It doesn't compress as much but it's loft is light and WOIW WARM! Mmmmm I like warm.
WARM: Oh wait I already mentioned that. But can you say FURNACE? This is a toasty cozy piece. Are you feeling too hot? Drop the hood and undo the zip... me I HATE being COLD. Call me a GIRL because thats what I am, but with this jacket I can hang with the Guys and not shiver like a fifth grader at recess in a Colorado snow storm.
COLOR: I have the blue and it's a head turner. Stylish even in Aspen!
Not much more I can say... except it'll be great when BD comes out with the woman's line. I'm just really happy I am big enough for the men's small!
Happy Shredding, climbing and town stylin' !!!
