I got these shoes in 2007 for an archaeological field school - and was later employed for nearly two years on a field crew working in rugged outdoor conditions, hiking 70% of the time and these boots survived it all! They are rugged, provide good ankle support, and will keep your feet dry no problem! My only complaint is that they are so rugged and bulky that they weren't always ideal for the environment - I worked often in the middle of the Mojave desert and they were very protective against rocks and spiny things, but my feet got ridiculously hot in the summer. There is not much breathability with these boots. Regardless, they are definitely worth the 90 bucks.
