What's the weight on these?
I typically wear large gloves but the extra large are even a bit small. I also don't like the finger inserts which kind of defeat the purpose of having a mitten.
I've bought and used both the G3 Alpinist and Expedition skins and although I have not had the sliding problem noted by calebsflig2175651 (January 26, 2012), I do know someone who has. This leads me to believe it could be a defect in the individual skins. I have noticed that the G3 skins do not go as steep as the old BD Ascensions but they do hold very well on ice. Also, the glue seems to come off more quickly and the rubber tail piece that is welded into the skin (rather than riveted in) cannot be easily replaced if the rubber holes rip. The tail piece in the newer Alpinist model appears to be redesigned, so it may not be as problematic. As for working with G3, I also found them to not be so helpful and returning stuff to bc.com is easy but if you get it on Steep and Cheap, you only have 30 days to return a defective item.
My biggest complaint with this skin setup is that the holes in the rubber tail pieces rip after extended use. Some other G3 models have riveted tail pieces which makes it easy to replace the rubber piece but with this setup you cannot replace it and are stuck with a worthless skin (unless you just want to secure it without a tail clip like old school skins).
