Hard to beat

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've got the 4000 for my 3-4 weights, and the 7000 for my 6-8 weights... I searched long and hard & tried several models from several brands before I landed on these. These are by far my favorite reels of anything I've ever fished with. For how big the arbor is and how quickly they retrieve line they are super light & durable. Hardy knocked it out of the park on these and they only charge $225.. still crazy to me. Any other brand would charge double.

I've got the 5000 for my 5 weight Hardy Zenith. They're a match made in heaven. I've also used the 5000 on my 6wt and it balances well. I love the thin profile large arbor design. picks up your line super quick. There is a really pleasant click on both the retrieve and when line is stripping out. I have a strong Hardy bias when it comes to my rods and reels, and it might just be me but you are going to struggle to find a better value & a better looking reel anywhere else. $225 for this reel. To get this quality and precision from Orvis, Sage, Ross, Lamson, etc you will be paying more than double, no doubt.

I got interested in it because I thought it was the best looking rod on the market. Turns out its the best fishing rod I've ever owned as well. I couldn't find one negative review on this rod when I bought it, and now that I own it I can confirm everything positive that I read.
super light. fun to fish. great accuracy. great backbone when you need it. great feel. super good looking reel seat, blank, and craftsmanship... did I say fun to fish? The extreme lightness makes it feel like you are fishing a weight or two lighter, but that's not to say it doesn't have the backbone that you need. Never get tired of fishing this thing.
I own 3 different weights now. Wish I could afford the whole line up.
My one complaint is why would they discontinue the skeletal reel seat design?? its so much cooler than the new design with the wood reel seat in my opinion. Oh well. I got my 3wt on clearance that wouldn't have been on sale if it weren't discontinued.

I love this rod. great for nymphing and streamers... super fast action.. Only 2 complaints : It lacks feel for dries if you are making short casts, and it only comes with a rod sock- no hard case. You are going to be looking a long time to find a rod with this power, accuracy, and backbone at this price. another reason I love TFO is their warranties.. you can fish worry free with their rods cuz they'll replace it if it breaks.
