Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I used this pack on a free solo of an ice climb in Pinnacle Gully, Mt Washington. In it I had: A 30 m 8mm rope, 30 m of 4 mm (pull line), MH phantom Jacket, extra pair of gloves, 500 ML water bottle, Headlamp, 2 ice screws, belay device, v-thread tool, several cords for v-threads and a few biners and slings. I had my crampons and ice tools strapped on for the approach. Forget about the elastic cord. The only thing is might hold is a layer that you shed (fleece, etc). While climbing, I didn't even know I had the pack on. The only complaint is the waist belt. One, the buckles didn't hold and both sides fell off in the trunk of my car. I had to tie small knots at the ends so it didn't happen while wearing it. I have a 34" waist and the belt just fit over my light winter layer (heavy base layer and single layer goretex). The waist belt should be longer and the ends sewn so it doesn't fall off.
BTW, It IS hydration compatible even though it says "no" to the left. It has an inside sleeve and an opening for the tube.
