This helmet has one major flaw in my opinion. The way the straps are set up allows the helmet to slide back off of your head if you push it. It doesnt matter how tight the chin stap is, it still slides backwards. I tried adjusting it for an hour with no luck. I have a petzl helmet that fits fine and does not slide back at all. This could potentially be extremely dangerous, because when it slides back the chin strap cuts into your neck. If you took a hard enough hit it could potentially strangle you.

Good and Bad

I just took these on a winter ascent of mount Whitney. While the temps were not too bad, there was some postholing in deep snow and walking through small streams. The boots kept my feet really warm and dry, and at no point did they get cold at all. At one point I did get snow into the liners (my fault) but the liners dry out very quickly in a sleeping bag overnight. We took a 5th class variation in the final 400ft, and the boots climbed relatively well - See video

However one of the lace holders broke out of the plastic shell on day 3, and the shoelace ripped in half as well. This seems like a quality control issue. I now have to send them back to scarpa to be repaired. This process involved minimal hassle, but I still have to pay to ship the boot to them.

In the specs on this page it list the pack as having a sleeping bag compartment. It does not have one. Other than that the pack is very comfortable. I have a deuter act lite 65 +10 and this has a similar comfortable feel while hiking. I am 6ft 160 pounds, skinny with a narrow frame. Also, the minimalist waist belt is great for wearing with a harness. The full sized padded belt tends to push my alpine bod harness uncomfortably into the sides of my waist.
