I just started to use these on short to medium hikes and so far I am extremely impressed . I did a lot of research and was looking for adding a more supportive but relatively lightweight hiking boot to my gear closet . I initially looked and tried on the Salewa Evo Firetail. I liked the weight and design of that boot, unfortunately it doesn't work well with a wide foot . The Alp trainers are a little bit heavier but so glad I went with these . They are definitively wider and have great padding around the ankle area . No hotspots so far. I sized up a half size to accommodate a slightly thicker insole and wool hiking socks

I own alot of Arcteryx. This is a great piece. I am 6' 175lb with an athletic build. The medium fits perfect. I can use it under my Atom SV ( size large) for additional layering on cold snowshoeing or hiking initiatives. It works well layering under a Gamma MX softshell. Even over a baselayer during the shoulder seasons. It breathes incredibly well , is much warmer than you'd think given its weight, and is a no brainer to bring with based on packability

I am 6' 175 lbs with an athletic build. 32" waist and 33-34" inseam in pants. I have several pieces of Arcteryx( all jackets and vests- which i love). Want to buy a 3 or 4 season pants for hiking , snowshoeing, climbing. Torn between Gamma MX and Gamma LT. significant price difference . I know LT with layering is an option. Any suggestions based on use? Would I be a medium or medium /long in pants? Thanks
