timothy's Bio

I love the mountains. I can see some of the peaks of Yosemite from my back deck. At least a couple of times a week I day hike to high mountain lakes and streams, many of them in Yosemite, and try to catch trout for lunch. Though I am 69 years old I still enjoy 15 mile day hikes and while I take enough gear to survive for several days in case of an emergency I still try to pare down the weight by testing all the new gear that seems like it could help. My most important discovery has been Kayland boots. I have flat feet and various other foot problems and Kayland has solved the problems. [Backcountry.com should be a dealer for Kayland]. I have favorite sleeping bags, cooking untensils, stove and a lot of other stuff i will share with you as time goes on or I am asked.
Take the time to enjoy our outdoors. We are so lucky to have the opportunities that we have in The USA. I have traveled to a lot of other countries and ours is so much better! Love America and enjoy her too.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

The quality that I enjoy most about these glasses is the way that I can see trout underwater. There will just be glare on the water and I put these on and suddenly I can see fish! I have used a lot of different fishing glasses and these are the best that I have ownd. They don't look bad around town either. 5 stars

I've had this ex lite jacket in my pack for a while now. You've got the camp wok done, had your dinner, maybe have a little camp fire....time to share the day. I snuggle up in this jacket tht I couldn't even tell was in my pack all day and presto! the chill is gone, what a good finish to a perfect day.

Its light, but has good support. Room for my 3 liter camelback. Has hipbelt pockets for energy bar or sunscreen. Has the hipbelt, chest strap and adjustments of a regular backpack, but did I mention it's light? I carry about 15 lbs and do 10 mile dayhikes at 8000 feet, perfect. I've probably carried it 30 to 40 times.

Finally! A lighteight pack with grownup features. I dayhike deep into Yosemite backcountry, often alone. I carry the ten essentials as well as a spot and a titanium grate and a cooking pot, some flyfishing equipment and a steri pen. My pack is typically around 12 to 15 lbs. This pack is perfect for this use, giving plenty of support and options to load transfer while at the same time being so light. I have carried it close to two hundred miles this summer and just love it.
