Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Okay I love North Face (NF) women's long cargo pants. Sadly had to retire 2 pair recently and bought these to replace them. I'm very happy so far and know I will love them, but have a few issues.
FIT: I've always found NF to fit pretty well although I did buy up a size this year based on reviews of others and am glad I did. I'm 5'11 weigh 130 and usually wear a 2L. Bought the 4L and they fit perfectly (as long as I don't gain any weight). And for me the length is just barely long enough.
MATERIAL: The material is VERY durable. Works well in cold or warm weather. One issue though is it's not very stretchy. So I only use these for hiking not climbing.
FUNCTIONAL: 2.5 stars -- gets the .5 because of the zip off pants...I think that will be nice (haven't tested if they fit over boots yet...hope so.) Only a 2 because the cargo pockets are practically useless...what's the point of cargo pants if you really can't put anything in the pockets. My previous NF cargoes had AWESOME functional cargo pockets. Wish these did.
MISC: One problem with my previous NF Cargos were the snap clasp at the waist always came undone with the slightest movement. These newer pair have a double snaps-- so I'm hoping that will solve the issue. We shall see. Fingers crossed.
The other problem I had with previous pair was SHRINKING after drying. So I don't plan on drying these otherwise they will definitely be too tight and too short.
OVERALL: I love NF cargo pants and will probably continue buying them over and over. Highly recommend.
