Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size

This jacket is not to be believed! It's light, it's warm, it covers your waist and lower back; it's beneficial in a wide range of temps. It also seems to be durable -- at least the way I'll be using it. I walk in my neighborhood almost everyday, and I can work up a sweat if my gear isn't right. This jacket really helps me regulate my body temp on those days from 20 -45 degrees. I know it's built to be a more technical piece, but I can love it, too.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I really like this jacket. I've read several favorable reviews, and I agree that for it's specified use, it's probably as good as it gets. However, I mainly use jackets for my daily winter walks, and this jacket was over-kill for me. It's a little too loose fitting, and believe it or not, a little too warm for what I needed. A small was too small, and a medium was too big, so I'm out of luck on this one. It's light weight, looks good, has a decent hood for someone who doesn't need to wear a helmet (fits close to the head to keep wind out). I returned this item and just received the North Face DNP Hoody. I haven't even had the time to "test" it around the house yet, but it's promising. I wish the Rab Xenon X had worked, but it's still a good jacket.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I live in a suburban community, and walk 2.5 miles a day -- rain or shine, hot or cold. In the worst cold, I've tried to wear something over my nose and mouth (balaclava), but couldn't because my glasses would fog over. Either I needed to walk "blind", or just deal with a cold face. What to do? These goggles solve my problem! They do fit over my glasses, the corners of the frames cause a small indentation in the foam on each side, so you have to be careful in removing the goggles, or you pull your glasses off as well. But, they work! And they allow air flow through a series of slots at the top of the frame. I can successfully cover nose and mouth, wear the ventilated goggles, and I can easily stay out in well below zero weather! While this an unusual use for goggles of this type, they do what I need them to do. For me, they are a great find.

I'm glad I found this jacket when I was browsing your web site a few weeks ago. It was a definite impulse to buy this jacket, because I certainly couldn't justify the cost if I thought about it very long. I now consider it a great purchase, and am so glad to have it in my arsenal of winter gear. I love the feel of the coat: light weight, yet very warm; attention to detail, but also rugged. It's the most well made coat I've ever owned, and I'm pleased with my purchase every time I wear it. It's well-filled, but also carries a slim profile, so you can use it as a layer under a shell if you need to (cold rain, like we had last week). Overall, great jacket.

I thought I had found the perfect winter coat. I even exchanged the unhooded version of this coat for this one. However, when I tried to wear it to a football game (where the hood would have really helped), the hood was so big that it restricted my view of the game. I mean it's huge! If you need this level of facial protection because of the harsh nature of the climate you're in, this is good option. For "normal" winters in the mid-west, it's overkill. So, I returned it, and got the Lodge Jacket without the hood. Now, I'm a happy man!

This is a coat made for really cold, nasty weather...weather that's worse than where I live. I couldn't feel right about keeping a coat that I might wear one time a year; the coat is too valuable for that. So, I returned it. Not because of anything lacking in the coat; instead, I could never put it to the kind of use that one of you who are reading this can. Sort of makes me wish I lived in Alaska, just so I'd have a real reason for owning this. Whoever needs a really well-made, warm beyond belief winter coat, go for this one. Enjoy it!
