I've been using this pack for a couple weeks now and there are a number of things I like about it.
Firstly, the volume of the pack is just a bit on the large side for daily rides, but I think that is perfect. I think it's always nice to have just a little more room than you need than not enough. The smart design of the pack incorporates cinch straps so your stuff is not moving around every time you jump over an obstacle. The inside is well laid out too with plenty of useful storage pockets.
I really like the water reservoir. It has it's own zippered compartment a hose quick disconnect so you don't have to bring the whole pack to the water or reroute the hose every time you want to fill the thing. The wide opening is nice because you can easily dry and wash it.
The straps are well placed and are comfortable. And let's face it, Dakine makes an awesome looking pack.
So why only 4 stars? Well, here's why. Dakine chose to only allow routing the hose one way unlike may others that allow you to route the hose which ever way you see fit. And of the 2 ways Dakine could have chosen, they chose to route it down the left shoulder strap. That's seems odd not only that they would limit the routing options, but that they would also go left when most packs go right and most people are right handed.
Secondly, it is not quite as secure on your back as some other packs I've used like Osprey or Deuter packs. There is slightly more movement on your back than with my Osprey.
In conclusion, it's a solid pack, but not perfect.
I really like my hornet bike jersey in red. Didn't like the black as much. It seemed to be a different material. I know, it doesn't make sense to me either. The jersey is light weight and very comfortable. And coming from jett, of course it looks great too. It makes you look like a real mountain biker as opposed to a roadie on a mountain bike. The pockets are just the right size for my iPod and are in a great location. It also seems to wick well to a point (see below). You can tell they put a lot of time into the design and quality of this product.
The only reason this jersey doesn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't dry quite as well as some of my other jerseys. Because it is a thin and light jersey when it becomes saturated it has a tendency to cling a bit to the skin. But having said that, I do sweat more than the average guy, so maybe it's not even a problem for others.
Super comfortable gloves with great padding, but all of this is overshadowed by the weakness of these gloves. I've had two pair and both of these gloves and both of them let go in the seams. It's unfortunate, because this glove would be a solid 5 star rating otherwise.
I can only recommend the shell of these shorts. For the price on CL the liner could actually be worth it if you already have a serviceable liner. The liner on the other hand I cannot recommend. What's the story here adidas? You made a nice short here and then stopped about 2-3 inches too short on both ends of the liner, rendering them useless as a unit. But on the plus size, now I know how girls at the club in super low cut jeans feel.
